Were we a great fan base? yes .... are we now? not even close.

sure we still pack it in and support garbage, but it is more of a novelty now.

how do we get back on-top? first of all our team needs to play meaningful games, such as the playoffs year-in and year-out. then we need to dominate with a home field advantage that makes it difficult for opponents to come into our house.

Did we do these things in the 80's? you bet your ass we did.

Are we anywhere close to being a great fan base today? laughing uncontrollably. You would have to be a giant sphincter to think that we are even a blimp on the NFL fan chart.

pull you heads out of your ass and quit waffling over the bernie kosars or getting dreamy-eyed over the fact that our best player is a special teams player who can't even pick an agent. Stop wearing stupid costumes to get recognized, and start focusing on things taht actually matter. remove all that womanizing heart out of the equations and start using your brains.

I'll be here all summer to straighten out those who need it.

LMAO

You're at least entertaining as a troll.

in otherwords you agree 100% but are too much of a pussy to take my side because you feel all warm and fuzzy with the way things have been during our losing ways but having this mighty fan based propped up as some leader among nfl fans. The truth is, we suck as long as our team sucks and we chose to dwell over topicks about stadium mustard, has been 80-icons and cheesy QB's because we just have no idea what rooting for a playoff teams means anymore.

I will give us browns fans one thing though, we aren't fly-by-night like steeler dickheads. We are still here and it ain't our fault we've been given shit teams to cheer for. however, we can't slip. It's been 16 years since we were decent on the gridiron. we all need to suck it up, quit getting all star-struck by guys like cribbs and start voicing our opinion about real soilid players on bothy sides of the ball, forgetting who are the nice guys, the ones who contribute most to charity and blowing our load over a performance every now and then.

There is no way you are over 12 years old so I won't say anything too harsh, but you must be a lonely, lonely, little person. Close the pornography windows currently minimized on your desktop, give your babysitter's laptop back, and get washed up for your lunch. If you don't, you'll probably get your computer privelages taken away for your entire summer break and then you won't be here all summer. You don't want that do you little CardDawg? Thought so. Now, grab a coloring book and leave the adults alone so they can talk big people talk. Or at least go outside and do something constructive like maybe, falling asleep on I-480?

You are confusing the quality of the team's performance with the quality of the fan base. First off, NO fan has any control really over the "things that really matter", i.e. the quality of the performance of the team. We don't do the drafting, the coaching, the running, passing, blocking and tackling. The organization and management of the team have all the control over that.

If the fan base is in nostalgic over better times...as in the "glorification" of Bernie Kosar, that is simply a wish and hope and look back at a better time. If the fans focus on the fact that our best player seems to be a special teams player, well, that again, is simply a fact of life. If the team had better players at other positions, like QB, RB, WR, we would be all enthused about those players, but those guys don't exist.

The fact is, the loyalty and enthusiasm shown by the fans during such a prolonged period of ineptness, to me, proves how quality the fan base of the Cleveland Browns is. Get the damn Top Men of the organization to get their act together and put a winner on the field and all of your concerns will be over.

Ok, not that your post made any sense what-so-ever, but what does the content on the field have anything to do with the veracity of the fan base? The fact that we still can have the discussion about how great a fan-base we have during the last 20 years of ineptitude proves exactly the opposite of what you are saying.

Please tell me that your not really that ignorant! As a Browns fan, I am insulted at the thought that you are allowed to continue to post some of the most insanely stupid things that I have seen since joining this board. You can attack the team for the continuous losing or the joke it has been in the recent past. But to start attacking the fanbase by saying that we are not one of the best, if not THE best, fans in the entire NFL? Are you that stupid? You are saying that, because our teams has sucked royally in recent times, we cannot be a great fanbase? Do you realize how totally stupid that sounds? A truely great fanbase is one that supports their team through EVERYTHING! Win or Lose! Browns fans do that! I think you have us confused with that team from Pukesburgh. This is the BROWNS BOARD! Not the STEELERS BOARD! If you want to insult fans, at least choose the bandwagoners that deserve it!

Browns fans...Cardfag has crossed the line on this one IMHO. I'll take the team being criticized. But the Browns fanbase is undoubtedly one of the best in the NFL...and in all of the sports world. There is a reason that Cleveland was given an expansion team so quickly after being screwed by Art. That reason is because of the FANS. If our fanbase sucked that bad, then they would not have given us the team we have today. Cardfag has contributed NOTHING to this forum other than to make stupid trade proposals (example: Cribbs for Troy Smith), and to continue to insult all of us that are true fans. Can we agree to get rid of this guy?

Did you just call me cardfag? wow, that's a real knee slapper.

we are the best fan base today because of what we did in forcing the nfl during the era of the fax machine? yeah that's some proof right there.

you want to bounce me when a clown like dawgpound mike is YOUR spokesman and gaining the ear of your team owner? seriously?

our personna isn't of being smart, its of wearing dawg masks and bitching about shit. back in the day we use to change games, today we change from a dawg mask to a bee-hive hairdoo to a plastic dog bone hat.

we aren't known for attending the nfl draft and voicing our opinion about who we want the team to select, we are known for making excuses for our below average players and rallying behind the advanced mediocre.

all I'm saying is that when this team turns around (eventually), just be ready for a national stage. don't think about the newest gay costume and how drunk you can get. replace the weak in the stands with the blue collar diehards ... oh thats right, they can't afford it because the truck needed new mud flaps and rims this year ...

Yes, CardFag, I think going after loyal Browns fans and blue collar workers is a good strategy.

That's a bit harsh dontcha think? You can't blame a fan (of any team) for loving and supporting their team! It's the Browns fans who can't accept reality and act like it's somebody, anybody, everybody else's fault........the refs keep us down, the league keeps us down, the Steelers cheat.....bal, bla, bla!

What is rather comical is that Browns fans think that the 80's was dominated by the Browns! The Browns barely squeaked out a .500 record for the 80's and had a few seasons in the 80's where they competed for the #1 draft pick! Now I realize that by comparison to the normal Browns season, an entire decade where they finished above .500 (.525 to be exact) is a monumental achievement but let's keep things in perspective.......The Browns haven't dominated a decade since time was measured with a sundial!

Actually our record from 1980 through 1989 was that we were 83-70-1 in 154 games, which comes to a .542 winning percentage.

We won 5 of 10 division titles in the 80's. We also went to 3 of 10 AFC Championships in the 80's.

While that isn't dominant, it is definitely top 5 teams in the 80's and hands above the rest in the AFC Central.

I don't think this guy was contending that the Browns "dominated" in the 80s in the sense that they won a plethora of championships. But they were title contenders appearing in 3 AFC title games, and they were probably the dominant team in their division those years, in that they did make the playoffs in 7 of the 10 years of that period, plus they won 5 of the 10 division titles in that era (Bengals won 3, Steelers 2). Yea, they had two bad seasons of 5-11 interspersed in there.

(and by the way, they only started measuring time by some measure other than the sundial in 1984).

I take it "carddawg" is a resident Arizona fan since they have been winning, so he just

got interested in football, and goes from one site to another calling himself "cardsteel", "cardratbird", "cardcolt"... just a hunch.

He doesn't know the difference between the team performance and loyal fans? ....

sad. Ban him before he hurts himself typing.

carddawg can't even get it straight in his post switching from "we" to "you" etc. at least proofread your stuff before you post it. he probably grew up in ohio and became a pittsburgh band wagon fan and was beat up in school everytime he tried to wear a steelers jersey. i don't know how he's got so much time to type his stupid posts considering he's got one of his thumbs in his mouth at all times. well maybe that's not a thumb...............

Carddog, you are among your 'peers' here and they do not want you. That'd make you a bad fan. You seem to have no clue what it really means to be a good fan, as most all you attempt to make a point of, revolves around a winning record.

I have ALWAYS heard wherever I went in my Browns stuff - especially in Squeeler dominant bars - how loyal Browns fans were, especially during our seemingly never ending downturn. I have to agree with those that incinuate you are no more than a early teenager since you have no clue of what fans talk about. ALL fans talk of earlier teams and players. It's called respect, not living in the past. Now go ask your paw to explain what Aretha wanted you to learn R-E-S-P-E-C-T .. look it up on Google or ask your maw. Then go back to bed ... and put that playboy back under the mattress.

Sure, and you merely emphasize the point that no on this team has done much to help us forget the accomplishments of Kosar in those 20 years. I would be glad to have Brady Quinn, or whoever lead this team to a few championship games the way Kosar did. Let us know when that is going to happen.
