The number 1 over all pick started in High A ball in Lakeland, Florida. Murry would be playing single A for the A's in front of 3000 people tops. The number 2 overall pick (a catcher) played for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in short season A ball. So yeah, he's going to be playing in some podunk single A ball league in front of no fans and riding a bus between games. I'll take the NFL and more money per year even on his rookie contract than he's going ot make playing single A baseball.

But the MLB contract and big money only happens if he makes it to the majors. Otherwise he's playing for peanuts and riding a bus seeing the hotspots of California like Stockton and Modesto. I'd take the NFL money rather than the long minor league road to the majors.

Right...that was his signing bonus but his single A or even double A salary isn't going to come close to what his rookie contract in the NFL would pay.

He's going to make a shitton more money being drafted in the NFL. Plus he won't have to go to the minor leagues and ride a bus for a few years before playing in the Majors. Longer career most likely in baseball but I think I'd take the NFL money over baseball.

I have to agree with Pluto here. I think as it stands right now my preference would be keeping what we have now with Williams as HC and Kitchens as OC and play caller. Listened to the Bruce Arians interview today and he still says he'd love the Browns job and wouldn't call plays so that would mean to me that if he were to come here, Kitchens stays in place under Arians which is fine as well. Mostly to me, I don't want to see the offense messed with. There's been a noticeable difference with Bakers play with Kitchens calling the plays. I'm not the biggest Williams fan in the world but hard to argue with the change for the better he's brought to the team since we let Huey and Toad walk the plank.

You're not being a downer. I think it's hit us all hard this week and one thing that has made it somewhat easier is reading the messages from people here as the week has gone on.

Loved the story Z.... Certainly remember that 2007 trip very well and the 2011 trip which was the infamous "blackshit" year. 2007 was my first trip back to meet up with these guys in person. Not ready completely to type out my Stan story just yet....but it will be coming soon.

Like Zombo....I go all the way back to the AOL boards with Stan and because of him, I have close friends that I talk to every day despite living all over the world away from each other. He's the reason why we are all friends and still make a trip to cleveland each year to this day. Still remember the conversation he and I had way back when about starting this board and could it be something that would last and have people visit. Who knew at that point it would turn into THE place to talk about the Browns online and that as well is thanks to him for keeping this place going all these years. Hard to believe it's real.

Its my hope that they asked him to take on the interim HC job the rest of the way and then stay on as DC/asst. HC with whoever the new HC of the team turns out to be. I really like the Rams model and having the HC who focuses on the offense and the young QB and stays out of the way of the veteran DC and lets him do his thing. There's no reason to think it couldn't work here if the right coaches were hired.

Exactly. And what changed from year 1 to year 2 in LA??? They got rid of the coach who was leading the team and leading Goff straight into all time bust category and found a smart, young coach who has gotten not only the very best out of Goff, but would certainly seemed like improved him as well. That's why all the doom and gloom of "now we have to rebuild" and "now we have to start all over" is a bunch of crap. There is talent on this team. Not enough yet by far...but there is talent and it will be up to Dorsey to find more in the next draft and FA and up to whoever the new coach is to get the best out of the talent that he will be inheriting.

Could be starting for the Jags this Sunday.
