Well, this would explain your obsession with marginal players.

The second something is a FACT, any and all evidence becomes irrelevant.    Which means either you're mentally handicapped or trolling.  Neither is ideal.

So what you're saying is that a fact has never been proven wrong?

  2. Look guys, if we were talking Ebola or Bubonic Plague or something crazy like that, I'd be right there with ya. But we're talking about the flu. Not Ebola, the flu...

I feel like Iverson- and ya'll in here talkin about practice?...

But, as I said, he IS in the picture.    What Metric would you like to use to determine the best?    If you go with the basics:  yards and TDs and catches , then you have this:

Top Ten TEs in yards receiving:

    1. Darren Waller   Raiders

    2. George Kittle  SFO

    3. Zach Ertz  Philly

    4. Mark Andrews   Balt.

    5.  Hooper

    6. Tyler Higbee  Rams

    7 Jared Cook   Saints

    8. Hunter Henry  Chargers

    9. Dallas Goedert  Philly

    10. Greg Olsen....Carolina

If you go by  TDs you have:

    1. Andrews   10

    2. Jared Cook  9

    3.  Ertz,  Hooper,  Kyle Rudolph (Minn)  6 each

    7. Kittle,  Henry, Goedert,   Kelce  KC;  Mike Gesicki Miami/Ryan Griffin NYJ and Foster Moreau  Raiders;   5 each.

If you go by straight number of catches you have:

    1. Kelce

    2. Waller

    3.Ertz

    4. Kittle

    5. Hooper

So....Hooper IS in the Top 5 of each of those categories.  The ONLY other guy to be in the Top 5 of each category is Zach Ertz.

So, maybe it is NOT so crazy to argue that he may be the #1 TE in the league.

Combine that with teams going to be forced to reckon with a hungry and healed up Njoku! I still feel the sky is the limit for the Chief!

  4. Besides that... I gave you the facts straight according to the CDC when in fact they have identical symptoms. And the fact that "Chills" and "shaking from chills" are a common "common flu" symptom that was left out. Those were the facts.

Now if we're interpreting them, I say its the same thing. You say it's not. It's down to belief again.

  5. 14 minutes ago, The Gipper said:

This is a specious argument.  .   Facts do not change because you either do or do not believe in them.  The facts are the facts.  You do not get to choose facts,   facts don't come from "either side", and there are not two sides to facts.

You have beliefs, you have opinions, you have faith in something,  you may try to put spin on interpreting  what facts mean,   but you do NOT have a separate set of facts.  What you or I may think about facts does not change facts.

Some facts may be unknowable perhaps.    Your Jesus example is NOT a question of what the facts are....it is question of what you believe in, or in what the other guy does not believe in.

I could believe that the Browns are defending Super Bowl Champions.  My beliefs do not make it a fact.

And trust me,  humans CAN be fallible in what the BELIEVE facts are.   And sometimes those facts can be misinterpreted.  In my profession it is necessary to deal with all kinds of fact.   But we also deal with the real other side of the coin:   what you can convince someone those facts mean....and whether or not you can actually discern what facts are.

Well, depending on your interpretation of the facts you certainly can have two different sides to facts.

Say that analogy for instance about the Browns being defending Super Bowl Champions... Being as each season is reset and no team is greater than another, as long as Cleveland never loses they are essentially the Superbowl Champions... they are defending their title each time they take the field.

I know it's not quite the same but a cool thought none-the-less...

Then there again it's what FACTS do you believe in.

I say it's a FACT that Jesus is a real and living God. Someone who does not believe would say it's a FACT that he's not real.

So, it's what YOU choose to believe in and from what side you get your FACTS from... because there's always at least two sides, sometimes more.

Bottom line, if I was you and you were me, we'd both agree that each other were right. Live and let live, do you YOU think is right, but respect others because maybe you're wrong...

  7. Everyone has the freedom to think freely and believe what they want. That is your right as well as anybody else for that matter.

So those who belittle other for having differing beliefs, should listen twice as much as they speak.

Those who think I'm insensitive or think that I believe that any loss of life is okay have me sorely mistaken, it's quite the contrary.

When I say that the "common flu" kills 60,000 Americans and over 600,000 HUMAN BEINGS across the face of the Earth each year; I don't mean it dismissively or to minimize those deaths or to say that some death is worse than another. The bottom line is I care and hope the best for each and everyone, life is precious. It's just to offer another perspective.

  8. Typical flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, headaches, runny or stuffy nose, fatigue and, sometimes, vomiting and diarrhea, according to the CDC. Flu symptoms often come on suddenly. Most people who get the flu will recover in less than two weeks. But in some people, the flu causes complications, including pneumonia. The overall hospitalization rate in the U.S. for flu this season is about 68 hospitalizations per 100,000 people, according to the CDC.

With COVID-19, doctors are still trying to understand the full picture of disease symptoms and severity. Reported symptoms in patients have varied from mild to severe, and can include fever, cough and shortness of breath, according to the CDC. Other symptoms may include fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. COVID-19 symptoms appear to come on more gradually than those of flu, according to Healthline.

So, is it the flu or not? I don't know about you but I've had the CHILLS many time when I've had the flu but apparently I must have had Coronavirus the whole time...

I've always heard if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

    I gave you the data...

Less than half the current number in 3 times the time. https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

What number of deaths do you want to see before we bother you again? 100K? 150k?

That link itself says it's basically guesswork and mathematical models and they don't really know... and despite that the numbers are the exact same as last year and not nearly as high as 2014 when we didn't hear any of this fear mongering about the flu.

And I wouldn't doubt that "covid" is being counted among those totals... so again, where is the common flu? That's right, it's Covid.

  10. In the United States, flu season occurs in the fall and winter. While influenza viruses circulate year-round, most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, but activity can last as late as May. The overall health impact (e.g., infections, hospitalizations, and deaths) of a flu season varies from season to season.

Po....there's 257,000 dead worldwide from COVID 19 in what?  4 months?    C'mon man!

I understand that, but what I'm saying is-

Typically, in a year's normal two flu seasons (one per hemisphere), there are between three and five million cases of severe illness and around 650,000 deaths worldwide, which by some definitions is a yearly influenza epidemic.

  12. 5% to 20% -- Percentage of the U.S. population that will get the flu, on average, each year. 200,000 -- Average number of Americans hospitalized each year because of problems with the illness. 3,000 to 49,000 -- Number of people who die each year from flu -related causes in the U.S.

How many people die from the flu each year?
It is estimated that the flu results in 31.4 million outpatient visits and more than 200,000 hospitalizations each year. During the severe 2017-2018 flu season, one of the longest in recent years, estimates indicate that more than 900,000 people were hospitalized and more than 80,000 people died from flu.

  13. How many people die from "common flu" each season?

I read somewhere that it's upwards of 60,000 Americans that succumb to the common flu each flu-season.

Worldwide the numbers are astronomically higher.

Where was all this back 2 years ago when everybody was dying...

It seems like they named this flu and people ran for the hills and quarantined in bunkers.

The data suggests it's a small percentage more deadly than the common flu... But then again there have been instance of the numbers being inflated...

It's a mess, the whole shebang is sketchy. I feel terrible for the people who have lost loved ones and offer my condolences. I pray for their families to find peace and healing.

In my unpopular view, these victims could have passes from the "common flu" almost as likely- or passed away due to being in a car accident or a fall down icy steps. All of our days are numbered and in my opinion God is the one in control. I live my life that unless it's suicide it's not up to you but for the lord to decide when it's your time to ride. Live your lives to the fullest and live without regret. If it's your time a mask will not protect you, just as if it's not your time- no virus, no lions or no giants are taking you before your work is done.

Living in the perpetual fear of catching this flu lowers your immune system leaving you even more susceptible to infection, not only COVID but also colds and other bacterial infections. I've seen reports that suggest that if you've received the flu vaccine in the past few years that you are likely to test positive for having the virus... don't know if that is 100% valid, I'll need to look into that further, but it could explain the asymptomatic individuals.

Regardless, I hate the masks as well. If you are worried about it, then by all means feel free to wear one. But it should be a choice and not a requirement. I work in an essential service and the past 7 weeks we've been grinding along without them, now we are required to work with them on...

*On a lighter note- Nobody should be made to wear anything they do not want to wear. Women should be allowed to be shirtless in public just like men. ;)
