  1. So much stuff to mention and I have a tendency to drone on, so I attempted to cut it short. 🤣 To be honest, I'm not sure Browns fans are truly understanding just how big an impact OBJ can have on an offense. I actually overlooked it as well until I heard a podcast describing how much an elite receiver changes the defense. For example, last year Landry commanded the defense's top corner much of the time, but that changes now. Many teams have a strong CB, but fewer have two or three. OBJ might be a little dinged up, but I doubt it. He's so deadly on those slants and the defense has to give him such a big cushion that I could see 4-5 simple comeback routes in one game. But the hero of the day won't be OBJ or even Baker Mayfield. It's going to be Nick Chubb, and take it to the bank. On the ground and through the air, Chubb will be heavily featured.
  2. Grilling some wings and having the old man over! I've got some great Florida beer called Reef Donkey (American Pale Ale, not as hoppy as the IPA's), some Xanax just in case (kidding...maybe), and all my Browns apparel ready to go.
  3. Holeeeeee shit, it's GO TIME! We have a solid adversary coming into our backyard, and one of the things strong teams do is protect their home turf. You HAVE to win at home, and while we did a better job last year (ANYTHING was an improvement, obviously) we can do better. We can truly develop a homefield advantage, we can not only win, but we can SOUNDLY beat teams. Remember doing THAT? Yeah, me either! 🤣 Believe me when I say this atmosphere will be unlike any other we've seen in the past 20 years. For those of you attending, know that I'm infinitely envious, and be sure to scream for us who are at home! I'll make a few keys to the game, and I'll attempt to be brief before I pen yet another "Jiggins Novel". 1. Penalties: Titans defense relies on their secondary and they've invested big bucks to keep the ball in front of them. They will tempt you to take shots, and they will test the offense's patience and that means we need to sustain long drives. Nothing derails those drives quicker than penalties. (ahem, Greg Robinson) 2. Red Zone: If you get the ball into the red zone, you MUST get 7. Not 3, not 6...7 or 8. You simply won't get many opportunities against them, not historically. 3. Contain Mariota's ground game. Nothing is more demoralizing to a defense than playing great and then seeing a QB squirt through the line and gash them for 20 yards on 3rd and 9. Mariota is vastly quicker than many think, and it's not a stretch to say he's one of the fastest 3 QBs in the league. I could keep going but I won't! (for once). Can't wait to mix it up in the Tavern and hang out with my father today.
  4. I wonder what's causing my hesitation about this game tomorrow. I already predicted a Browns win of something like 27-17, but I keep having these niggling doubts creeping in my mind, and I wonder if it's because of our history, or if it's because Tennessee really is that good. I mean, they had a winning record 3 straight years. They're very good against the pass. They like to run the ball, and we were not great at stopping it last year. I keep thinking, can ANYONE live up to the impossible hype surrounding our team? Maybe it's because I can JUST see the headlines if we lose. "Browns hype train derails as they historically lose another opener after game-winning kick goes awry." The pressure for this team to come out and win is enormous, and I don't know if if you've seen who we play the first 8 games, but it's serious. But you know what? Win or lose, I still think we have the goods for a fun season. We need some luck on the injury bug front, but we can't control that. Browns fans have a unique relationship with opening day, and by unique I mean, "Holy shit I hate football." People who say things like, "This year is different. These players don't have anything to do with those other teams" are crazy and misinformed. If you don't believe our team has to overcome history, then you're bananas. We very much DO, and it's a real and tangible adversary. Take last year's tie for example. How MANY times did we have to win that game? Schobert could've taken that pic to the house and ended it. Genard Avery (I THINK) didn't turn around and make one block as he prematurely celebrated the touchdown that never happened. THEN, our best player Myles Garrett inexplicably drills a Steeler in the back directly in front of an official, so we lose more yards. THEN, our FG attempt gets blocked and we freaking TIE a game where we forced 37 turnovers. What's this have to do with tomorrow? Nothing? Everything? Well, the Ghost of Dwayne Rudd will be there, and our team better be ready for the impending collection "WTF Plays" that seem to occur on game 1 of the Browns' schedule. I've got the Sunday Ticket ordered, the wings marinating for grilling, and the beer chilled to the bone. Can't wait, no matter what happens!. *WOOF WOOF*
  5. It's funny, I just got all pumped up thinking about watching him play. I guess I kind of forgot just how talented OBJ is, so I watched some YouTube videos and got all fired up. Eli Manning was a great QB in his time, but let's face it, he's been going downhill. OBJ will be playing with a young QB just coming into own, and lord help the teams that don't have a good secondary.
  6. He didn't look especially good, but I will say I didn't see a lot of people open, either. He missed a couple of throws like everyone does, but they couldn't run the ball, and then they couldn't get Cohen any big plays. He took some really bad sacks and I'd be interested to know if anybody was open, or if he simply had to eat it.
  7. That's kind of what I was just saying to my buddy. If you don't feel 100%, and especially if you're someone like OBJ, there's NO WAY you're a "full participant" in practice. Do I think OBJ is going to miss a handful of games this year? Yeah, I do. But I agree Mud, I think this might be a bit of posturing.
  8. What I don't like hearing is that he can't recall when or why it happened, and I also don't like that he's had multiple weeks to heal and he's not 100%. Nobody EVER gets to 100% DURING the season, so I'd bet money that OBJ is likely to miss games this year. I hope I'm wrong, but this certainly doesn't sound great. He can't "open up" and sprint?! Wtf? Isn't that rather important for a WR?
  9. I freakin love these uniforms and I can't believe we're allowed to use them. I don't think our franchise expected the overwhelming positive support, but we actually have uniforms that don't suck!
  10. I legit teared up watching this. I was a teen when we lost the Browns, and I remember the sadness we all felt. I don't want to put TOO much pressure on just one game, but it certainly feels like our opener carries with it more importance than just one contest.
  11. I heard Baker Mayfield giving Tony Grossi the figurative finger. Baker was openly clowning Grossi's questions and he treats him with such little respect...I love it. Every time Grossi asks a question Baker completely dismisses him, and it's about time somebody did that with that fool.
  12. Ya know, I'm catching myself with that same mentality, too. "We have a new FG kicker and a rookie punter/holder, I'm sure the game will come down to a missed kick!" or "We haven't won an opener in forever, so why would this be different?" Win or lose, it won't have anything to do with our history. We're facing a good team, a team with a defense ranked around 6th against the run and 8th against the pass. A team that is healthy and expects to play in January. My biggest comfort is we play in Cleveland, and that energy is going to be INTENSE.
  13. God I wish. You can tell that it absolutely KILLS him to see our team have a QB and not be on the field. I literally had tears in my eyes when he went down. But no, Joe can't come back. He can't gain 40 pounds of muscle/bulk. I wish he could!
  14. I can't wait for the Tavern! Besides that 3 game period where I lost my freakin mind and turned into a temporary a-hole, I've always enjoyed the Tavern and discussing the games. It's one of my most favorite parts of the game and this year is going to be really fun. I do want to caution anyone who believes we're going to walk all over Tennessee in our first game. This is a team with 3 straight winning records, they won last year despite horrific injuries and probably should have made it to the playoffs, and they're probably a little pissed off that we're being talked about so much. Also, even though they're without their stud LT, they still have one of the best swing tackles in the game, so they're not freakin out or anything. We already know Delanie Walker will score a TD, so pick him up in Draft Kings. Tennessee just makes the game go slowly, ugly, and it's always close for some reason. Earlier I predicted a Browns win, but I'm getting really nervous. Tennessee is a very good team, they're QB is finally healthy, and don't forget that Mariota is both fast and accurate. It's going to be a war, and what REALLY scares me is it will come down to a kick.
  15. These are the kind of stories you just love to read. OBJ wants to be loved and embraced, and that can happen in our town faster than anywhere. Our fans are desperate for stars to adore, and I literally can't wait to see what he does this year. We haven't gotten a chance to see him basically at all yet, and we essentially placed him in bubble wrap to prevent injury. The bubble wrap is now off, and it's time to shine. That being said, I do want everyone to be somewhat realistic about what OBJ will provide. He hasn't practiced that much and has zero game time with the offense. It's GOING to take a little time before everyone gets clicking. For his first game, I'm predicting 5 catches for 78 yards and no TDs. Landry will lead receiving yards, and Njoku and Harris will each have a receiving TD, with Chubb also running one in. OBJ will be a total threat and will command a TON of attention, thus opening up things for others.
  16. Good lord almighty...THAT is a picture.
  17. Yeesh. She's ridiculous hot.
  18. I've been waiting for a post like this and I'm super stoked to be discussing game 1. I'm so incredibly excited, I can't think of another time I felt this good about our team since coming back. The team we're playing in the Titans wins more than they lose, and that's the important thing to remember. The Titans have a way of making the game an absolute mess, with many scores being something like 16-12 or whatever, lol. I have EVERY reason to believe this game will follow suit. Why? I'm glad you didn't ask! 🤣 So, as other posters have mentioned, we've essentially won ONE season opener since 'Nam. OK, ok, that's an exaggeration, but not by much. We're battling freaking history here, and for those of you who don't think that matters, I disagree. Weird shit happens week 1, and many who seriously bet on the NFL won't bet week 1 or will seriously reduce the amount they wage because it's so difficult to get right. Why else? How about FG kicker! The Seibert kid ended the preseason on a good note, but lemme tell you, the actual season is a different animal, and how many times did we lose because of kicking just last year? Now we have a rookie kicker AND a punter?! Yeesh. That scares me to death. I can JUST SEE the game coming down to a kick. Now, to be totally fair, I can make a lengthy post about why our Browns will WIN, but something about week 1 just terrifies me. Perhaps it's our history, or the immense covererage and hype we've received, but I just have a crazy feeling about this opener. I'm obviously still going to predict our Brownies to win cuz we have more talent overall, especially at QB and the DL, but I do believe it's going to be a damn war. The weather is supposed to be solid, and I love it. We're going to see some big time passing plays, but don't be totally surprised if we try very hard to pound the rock with Chubb. We're going to be in "12 formation" quite frequently (2 TE + 2 WR) and we're going to see what Chubb can deliver! Browns 27 Titans 20 Baker 24-37 for 276 yards and 1 TD and 1 pick. Chubb 21 carries for 139 yards and 2 TDs.
  19. He's already one of my favorite players, and I recently saw him in a t-shirt giving an interview and YO. He's a large man. Did you guys read that article where the author asked various teammates who they'd want on their side during a fight? Basically everyone said Devaroe Lawrence was the one guy they'd want if a fight broke out, lol. I'm starting to get REALLY nervous about this week 1 game. You guys know how week 1 games are, and you also know how they are for US. Titans just always seem to make the game a total shit show, and I can't express just how important our first game is, especially this year. I'm not ready to make a prediction, but I feel like the score will be something really low, and really ugly.
  20. Just as he was starting to ascend, Forbes appeared to suffer a catastrophic injury after being rolled up on. It looked VERY bad, although he was eventually able to limp off the field and head to the locker room. My question is, how bad is the injury? I can't find anything on Forbes! My heart just breaks seeing this happen in the preseason, and I don't know if you guys have ever seen this kid, but he certainly looks like a freaking boss. Honestly, he LOOKS like a tackle, but he's been getting better and better at playing guard, and what I like about him is how he's trending. This guy began the year nowhere near the starting spot, and he wasn't even listed as 3rd string. He got game time and started blowing up, and I like guys that come into their own and skyrocket up depth charts. I just pray he's OK, but it looked REALLY bad.
  21. I see what you mean, and I hope I don't come off as negative towards Gillian because I love him. I love the story, the ability, and his personality. To be honest, he's going to get injured making those tackles, but they sure are fun to watch. And look at the reaction of the team! They love it! I can promise you one thing, Gillian will be kicking in the NFL for a long time. Problem is, he's trying to dethrone one of the best, and that ain't gonna happen. But he's talented, and he's got the drive. He'll get a job eventually, trust me. But it won't be here. We can't risk the FG holds, the loss of experience pinning people down, and whatever else just to save a few bucks.
  22. Good point. Gillian even said that he needs experience holding for kicks, whereas someone like Colquitt is going to have it down pat.
  23. Had some nice throws on scoring drive! Also had a terrific bomb dropped by Hyman.
  24. "Mr. Lawrence" sounds about right. Lol I'll tell you one thing, Austin Seibert might've made his kicks, but damn son. Those things SCRAPED through the uprights. Lol
