Think he probably needs to move inside like Bitonio and Corbett?

That clip was a very limited sample size designed to make Forbes look as good as possible, but it looked to me like he has the quicks to stay at Tackle. I mean, they basically used him as a pulling Tackle. You don’t really see much of that in the NFL. So l doubt there will be many designed plays where he’s sweeping behind the line to pick up a block on the other side of Center, but it’s a good asset to have.

I don't get the head ducked when trying to land his initial strike...     Appears to be an ok bender at the knees.   Sometimes has his weight too far out in front of him in pass pro sets though.   Raw tools to be coached up are there.

Putting your head down is a mechanism to focus power. I would liken it to a baseball or fastpitch player putting their head down to focus on hitting a pitch, and l’m sure every Olineman does it when needed to fend off a bull rush or other power play. Are you saying he does it too early? And perhaps that mitigates his ability to disengage and reengage on stunts or delayed blitzes?

Nasty is a good word.. Get your 🥞 ready !!

he's got OL prick'ism :) word of the day (prick'ism)..

I’m guessing at his size and at his school he was a man among boys, but watching this you can see the appeal. Looks like a good candidate for misdirection plays, which l tend to think Kitchens is pretty good at drawing up, and you can definitely see the “finisher” compliment he was given in the interview clip. Gonna be fun to watch this guy develop.

He seems to have the feets to stick at tackle.

Thanks for posting these. I liked the bit about D. Howard. I didn’t realize Dorsey “discovered” him.

And on a side note, are the 80s back in fashion? Both Howard and Becham seem to be sporting outfits that are unabashedly from that time period. Perhaps we could start a godundme page to get those mofos some jelly bracelets.

The potential for something just short of Rice was there, so 8 is not bad.

It’s actually almost identical to what Ray Rice got, which was effectively 13-14 games. His incident was in 2014. His 2 game suspension got Goodell’d to a lifetime suspension, which he appealed and got overturned late November of that same year. He was free to sign and play with any team after that point.

  6. After thinking on this for a day it just seems like an excessive move. I guess l’m of the opinion that having a good and accurate QB lessens the need for a superstar wideout. That said, it can’t hurt l suppose. Welcome to the club Odell.

  7. Very well done and very fun read Dutch. Remind me to play along next year. Guessing games like this always feels like trying to piss into a soup can off a 2 story building, which really sounds fun unless you feel like you’re actually expected to land a few drops in the can. A can full of piss is not necessarilly better than a pissless can, and that is liberating.

Is he? His career longevity will likely be longer in the mlb. Deion sanders said in hindsight he would have only played in the mlb.

Bo Jackson said the same. It really boils down to doing what he loves. He’s clearly pretty amped up at the prospect of playing in the NFL right now. I guess success and the Heisman will do that to a guy.

  9. If Murray goes the NFL route then 1 of 2 unacceptable things happened. Either the A’s didn’t do their due dilligence to make sure the guy intended to play baseball, or he severely misled them about his post college intentions.

It’s not super uncommon that a 2 sport athlete could be drafted by MLB and NFL. If anyone remembers, Johnny Manziel was drafted as a shortstop by San Diego, l think. But they used a really low pick because they knew his intention was to play football.

However, before an MLB team burns their number 1 pick on a guy, there are usually conversations held between teams and players to discern what they plan to do. In baseball, players have options. They could go to or stay in college, they could go to Japan, or forego sports altogether and go for whatever career they studied for.

  10. 13. Williams and Kitchens were thrown together after the firings of Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. In fact, Kitchens was hired by Haley. He was close to Haley. He didn’t know Williams very well. The fact the two men worked well together played a big part in Kitchens emerging as the head coach for 2019.

Seems to be conflicting reports on “whose guy” Kitchens was. Too many chefs in Kitchens’ grill.

  11. This is sad news. RiP Stan.

I also never met him, but am a great admirer of what he built here. I know l lurked here for years before joining. It was almost like therapy.

He created something that will live on and continue to be appreciated by people he never even knew. That’s worth something.

Count me anong those raising a glass to Stan and his family before kickoff.

And the latest Pluto. I love the guy he deserves his own thread I guess.

    23. Rivers meant a high pass over the head of a receiver with a lot of velocity can easily go off the hands of the intended target. I do think Mayfield makes some of these "high, hard ones" in terms of throws. He is generally an accurate passer, but his touch needs to improve.

    Me:

l watched a few of Baker’s college games and don’t recall this being an issue, but l do concur he’s firing a lot of fastballs as a pro. I’m fairly certain he has a good change up, but l think something about the speed of the pro game is causing him to not use it.

  13. I’ll throw my hat in the ring. My signature chicken marinade.

    Chicken breasts

Garlic, coursely minced, about 3-5 cloves per breast

Weber brand garlic and herb seasoning

Yasou greek dressing. The only place l can find it is Jungle Jim’s, a local grocery store that is like Disneyland for foodies. Available online l’m sure. It’s also good on salad.

Tenderize chicken with a fork. Trim fat to desired defattedness. Sprinkle a bit of seasoning on each side and rub it in. Throw it in a ziplock with the garlic and greek dressing for a few hours or overnight.

Cook it on a grill or cast iron pan.
