Bottom line Putin and the entire world vastly underestimated the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people. Putin believed that NATO would do what they always do....nothing.

Europe distrusted the USSR and Russia and backed Ukraine immediately especially Great Britain followed by the arsenal of democracy the United States. 

As long as the Ukrainians can hold out they have a chance.  Unfortunately they are destroying the Ukraine.

Sad thing that few are aware of is that Ukraine throughout it's history has been under constant attack from all sides. The Russians, Turks, Poles. Stalin starved to death millions. Amazing that Ukraine exists.

This gave rise Cossacks, or Kozaks who were a badass bunch...with those shaved heads leaving only "pony tails". They were wearing baggy pants and break dancing long before MC Hammer, didn't rap though lol.

The late great Yul Brenner played the part of Taras Bulba, the leader of the Ukrainian Cossacks. The that movie setting was during the war with the Polocks I believe.

What people don't understand about a "corrupt" Ukraine is that when the Soviet Union broke up, Russia didn't simply say "bye bye Ukraine, you guys have a nice country". Ukraine was a vital asset to Russia economically and strategically.

Much of the corruption involve those loyal to Russia who remained as operatives in government and business pretending to be Ukrainians. What Russia could have said after the breakup as it pertains to Ukraine was "I'll be back".

What you might reasonably see is a book depicting a kid with 2 dads doing normal dad things. One dad drives the kid to school, the other dad coaches the t-ball team. Shit like that.

That kid can’t help that he has gay parents, and you don’t want your kid being an asshole to that kid for having gay parents. 

Ignorance can easily lead to misconceptions and bigotry, and it’s our job as parents to prepare our kids for the realities of the world. By not preparing them for things they are likely to encounter, you are just making it more difficult for them when they do encounter it.
