TheClevelandSound
I just wanted to take note and show everyone something every interesting and obvious I have come across. The Cleveland Browns have gotten off to a bad start in the last 5 seasons, losing each opener. Now, this may seem bad, and it is, but there are things that go for and against the Browns as to why this is happening. First off, the teams that the Browns have played in the season opener since 2005 aren't exactly terrible teams: Cincinnati, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Minnesota. Secondly, all of those openers since 2005 have been home games. Thirdly, all but one of them have been blowouts. Here are the scores: 2009: Minnesota 34, Cleveland 20 2008: Dallas 28, Cleveland 10 2007: Pittsburgh 34, Cleveland 7 2006: New Orleans 19, Cleveland 14 2005: Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 13 This shows that in 2010 we absolutely need to win our first game, whether home or away, to get off to a good star and build momentum, because we have had the same mentality every year after one game and that needs to change. Now, im not saying lets face Kansas City or Tampa Bay on our opener, but it would be nice to be 1-0. Thoughts? Another thing id like to add is why have we been allowed to host the season opener for 5 straight years? Just seems unfair. *late edit* WE HAVE HOSTED THE SEASON OPENER SINCE 1999. 585Dawg
Just to add to that... we've actually only won ONE season opener since our return in 1999. I believe we won in 2003/04 against Baltimore. Yikes!

ballpeen
I have always felt winning the first is important. Winning records mean something. Stay positive the whole way. You can't do that when you lose the first game. .500 is as bad as you want it to get.
The Gipper
Why have the Browns lost all those home openers? My theory is that it is because we have had a bunch of bad coaches who have not had the team prepared. Secondary theory is that, yes, we have faced teams who simply have been better than the Browns.
