Browns | Warming up to Jimmy Clausen

Sun, 11 Apr 2010 10:36:46 -0700

Cleveland Browns team president Mike Holmgren has talked with Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen and is not ruling out taking him at the No. 7 spot of the upcoming NFL Draft, according to The National Football Post's Michael Lombardi. According to sources, Holmgren has a higher view of Clausen following his recent work out.

It looks like Bryant is no longer an option thank god. It also looks like Holmgren realized he tipped his hand too much about Clausen a few weeks back saying that he wishes he liked him more. It was a bad move if you intend on trading out of that spot. He's backtracking a little bit now and that's good if, like I said, you want to trade out of that spot you want people to think you may take their guy. This brings in much better offers.

And the big one. The rumor is if we want Bradford it would take our 1st and 2nd this year and our 1st next year plus more. NO F'N WAY! That is waaaaay too much to give up on a rookie. For that price, you can get a Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, or Aaron Rogers. Plus, you would be sitting still in the 2nd, unless, you plan on acquiring another 2nd rounder or two. But I really don't think the Browns will go after Bradford at #1. If he falls to 3, maybe.

Also worth noting is that there are two DTs on that list alone. Could Rogers be part of a package deal to acquire more picks? It's curious that both Odrick and Troup are expecting to be 2nd round picks. Are we going DT with the 2nd or are we expecting another 2nd rounder two? The Browns have worked out mainly 2nd round projections and we only have one pick there. I believe they will be getting a few more.

The Browns would be so dumb to trade up and grab Bradford. We would have to give up way too much and mortgage the future for an un proven commodity. Its bad enough drafting a QB in top 5 when he doesnt pan out. Imagine trading picks to do it.... GAY GAY GAY

Odrick is said to be the #1 DE for the 3-4 defense.

the Browns, I predict, will trade down into the late teens, ahead of

Itsthepittsburg, and select Odrick. His stock is still rising.

(EDIT), or trade their second round to get back up into the first round.

Odrick isn't going to be there anymore for the Browns in the second, from what scouts are saying...

True, they gotta get up above the Jets and the Colts to have a shot in hell at Odrick.
