We needs DBs not DEs.

Nope...IMHO we need young, quick DEs to take some heat OFF the DBs. I know nothing about this kid, but his height (6'6") & weight (285) indicate leverage & speed as opposed to bulk on the corner which in itself may help our inside blitz packages. Not bad for giving up a late pick & keep in mind he was a backup on a pretty nice DL. We'll see what happens.

I don't know anything about this guy, but I agree, we need a young quick DE to put pressure on the QBs and to, yes, take heat off the DBs. The best of DBs can't do a good job if the QB has all day to stand back there.

Per Adam Schefter twitter: Vikings traded DE Jayme Mitchell to Cleveland for a late round 2012 pick.

Career backup?

Just thought I'd jump in on this one. This guy went to my alma mater (ole miss), and I watched almost all of his college games. The best thing he has going for him (or at least used to, haven't seen any nfl statistics) is that he is very quick off of the edge from a 3 technique. My guess is that he will be a 3rd down and long rush specialist. Also, keep in mind, when Jayme was at Ole Miss for his first two years, he was usually opposite of Derrick Burgess, and we all know how good that guy is. Hopefully he learned something.

I'd say this is probably worth a late round pick (6th or later), for what it's worth.

With the whole starting defensive line being injured in one way or another I think picking up a DE before a CB was a good idea and giving up a late round pick was a good move. Plus looking at this guys stats he is more of a pass rusher which is something we need right now.
