Earl34
I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to why Sean Payton would jeopardize a time out challenging Stuckey being down by contact (to presumably negate five more yards) when it would be an automatic first down due to the hands to the face penalty on Sharper? I know he won the challenge and then Mangini accepted the penalty but it seemed like a moot point from the start.
drake54
maybe it was for the integrity of the game....or . ok i really am not sure. having a third challenge wouldn't matter since he would have still had his challenge.
Mr. T
I loved the head shake after the Browns excepted the penalty. Payton had a Romeo moment.

bjh2130
Mangini had just as questionable of a challenge when he challenged Colston down by contact allowing New Orleans to go for it on a hsort 4th and 1 rather than kick a field goal on 4th and

That is not reviewable. THEN, Payton challenged the fumble to gain three yards. It was Payton's challenge. Mangini was not allowed to challenge. Nice try. bjh2130
No after the referee talked to Mangini to see what he wanted to challenge he came out and said Cleveland is challenging the rule on the field that the receiver was down by contact. Reason being is that Mangini thought Colston was ruled down and he was challenging the fact that he fumbled. After the review was over the official came out and said After reviewing the play the receivers right knee was on the ground before the ball came out. CLEVELAND will not be charged a timeout. It was a lot of confusion but it was challenged by the Browns
Earl34
From a New Orleans reporter's running commentary... 2:24 - Saints win the challenge and go for it. 2:21 - Now the Saints will challenge that Colston was down by contact to regain the yardage. Clearly, a 4th-and-short attempt will result from a successful challenge. 2:20 - The same rule applies as early. The play is not reviewable since the officials said Colston recovered the fumble. Why did it take 2 minutes to figure that out? Watch it again.
