Can Cribbs be a #1 Wide receiver

Ive been thinking about this a lot recently. Can he become a #1 wr in the wco? He seems to have all the tools that the great wco wr's have; strong hands, great tackle breaking ability and break away speed.

it would just make sense if this is the route we go plus getting a WR in FA.

Thoughts?

Nope. But if we get a #1 WR he is gonna be that much better along with Robo and momass. I don't see Stuckey staying, but I see us using Carlton Mitchell more too (meaning I expect him to actually play). Cribbs is more of an x-factor than a bigtime player. He can be used in an occasional WildDawg, slot receiver, or deep ball when all the attention is focused on our #1 WR. Of course this is me hoping and praying we get A.J. Green or some other go-to receiver...

No, I see him as a good slot guy, but never a #1 in any offensive scheme.

First, Cribbs is ABSOLUTELY an impact player. He was battling an injury all year and did what we in Cleveland would want- he fought. There aren't many people in the NFL you HAVE to design plays for because they NEED to have the ball in their hands at some point for your team to be successful. Cribbs is one of those people. There's a reason.

That being said, he's ABSOLUTELY not a #1 wide out in a WCO. The original poster neglected to mention the most important part of a receiver's role in the WCO: razor precise route running. The WCO views a lot of passes as long hand offs, which means that a lot of the passes are within 10 yards of the LOS. In such a short space size, speed and hands are all nice, but unless you have the ability to run the right pattern and shake the defender in the short space you have there's absolutely no reason to think you can be an elite WR in the WCO. There's a reason I'm hoping that we don't just get A.J. Green or Julio Jones in the first, but also Jonathan Baldwin in the second.... we need receivers.

Turf toe is a bitch. I've seen this seemingly innocuous (sp) injury wreck more than a couple stellar balls to the walls careeers. I hope Cribbs can overcome his foot bone issues. Could be time for Browns' to

cut their losses and look for options beyond cribbs. JTIOT

When your mother was pregnant with you was she doing beastallity films? Because you sound like you might have been hit in your head a few to many times by a horses dong. Lets see the "latter" part of the 09 season was the Steelers, Chiefs, Raiders and Jaguars and I don't think anyone but you would have said Cribbs was losing his effectiveness. Man you comment makes even the dumbest Steelers fan look like a genius. At least look stuff up first you stupid F**k.

Cribbs is close to the end of his career.

He is a return man, and nothing more. He isn't shifty enough to be a very effective WR and he doesn't have the skills to be a blocker. If you take a look at return men, they typically do not have long careers.

I would have traded him after the 2009 season when there was a lto of buzz about him and he came off of a stellar year.

A guy like Hester was a reciever first. Cribbs found his position because he simply didn't have the skills to win a position elsewhere. Yeah, it's fun to see him move around, but just like Kordell Stewart, it never really got the team anywhere.

I don't know what we pay Cribbs, but if it is a lot, I would unloaud him while I could.

Nice guy, lot's of fun, but NOT AN IMPACT PLAYER.

Hester actually broke into the league as a CB, so your theory is slightly flawed. He was actually pretty much drafted as a return man.

besides the namecalling he is right. Cribbs was a beast against the steelers, returning a punt to the steelers 5 and rushing for like 80 yards out of the WildDawg. Oakland I don't remember really, but Cribbs had 2 Kickoff returns for touchdowns against the chiefs to give him the NFL RECORD for kickoff returns. He also ran well against jacksonville and had a touchdown.

I'll agree he didn't look the same this year but he was injured for half the year. I'm expect big things next year for cribbs and a much improved offense...

your right on the steeler game and stand corrected...I slept through most of that game...I was battlling a cold that week and over slept...so I didnt see that...

but just the same...Im not writing the guy off...but truth is...hes getting older...and not younger...the shelf life of a return specialist is between 4-6 years...hes not gonna get any faster than he already is...

Cribbs is more similar to reggie bush than devin hester. He should be used primarily as a running back.

If you play Cribbs at RB at this point in his career you'll kill him faster yet..Cribbs is NOT an every down player..keep him on KR's and PR's and sprinkle him in the Wildcatt and get someonelse as a primary every down WR.

the reason why cribbs' numbers are down and he's now getting hurt is because we are/were over using him. he should just be a return guy and maybe throw him in in a couple of offensive situations. if we don't get another back along with hillis we'll be having this conversation about him in ayear or two.

CRIBBS IS BEING OVERUSED? WTF?

I thought you guys said he was an impact player? How the hell do you over use an impact player?

Cribbs needs to go. We wate too much time with him. He has slowed and he will get more and more injuries form hear on end. Return men are basically whores. Cribbs is all pimped out.

Why all this fuss over a guy with, what 8 careeer touchdowns or something impotent like that. Hines Ward he isn't.

But again, here we go with teh BIG problem with the Browns. We have favorites and can't let go, even though the other teams have far, far better players at the same positions.

What part of this can't you homies understand? This guy is NEVER going to better than he was. He shot his wad already. I know, I know, you like him. Well, shit, YOU pay him and let him slowly disintegrate on YOUR time and money.

If the Browns can milk some more returns out of his decaying boady, then I am all for it. He needs to stay off the line of scrimmage and he sure as hell needs to stay out of the backfield.

Can he make a cute play here and there? Who cares. He needs to go and we need some young, fast legs.

Id trade him to his hometown of Washington (Redskins) and see if we can steal a draft pick....Maybe a late second early 3rd. But getting back to the player himself...you all must realize he was UNDRAFTED and theres obviousely a reason for that.
