Posted March 21, 2011 Report Share Posted March 21, 2011 I haven't posted in a while...and this is probably the least excited I've been about a new Tribe season in a pretty long time, mainly because we don't really know any more than we did last year, and being a contender is still a ways off. We don't even really have the worry of a star getting dealt. (Yeah, there's Grady...but he hasn't given us anything since '08 (not his fault, but still) and he's damaged goods right now. Every contender will want Fausto, but he's not going anywhere with his contract.) There's some good stuff here, though. We know we have a cornerstone player with Choo and a core player in Asdrubal. We might have a stud closer with Chris Perez. Hopefully Fausto is finally a finished product and can be a reliable, front of the rotation guy. But who steps up to make us a contender? There are plenty of candidates. Matt LaPorta has the pedigree. Masterson and Carrasco have the stuff. Santana has everything if he can continue his rookie success and start hitting lefties better (which he's done in the minors). And there are some good looking players waiting in Columbus (Chiz, Kipnis, White, Weglarz, Phelps). Maybe even Grady will come back big. So who's going to keep you excited?
