The Gipper
Here is this week's trivia about the Browns next opponent: Since I will be tied up with business all day tomorrow, I will answer this thread now; 1. What is the Browns/Tits-Oilers head to head regular season record throughout the years. (2 or so game margin of error) The Browns lead the series 33-27 2. What is the Browns/Tits-Oilers post season record? The Oilers won the only contest, that 1988 Wild Card affair that the score was 24-23...in which there was a big time bullshit Personal Foul called on the Browns that gave the Oilers the breaks to win. 3. The Oilers leading receiver in the 1993-94 seasons also played for the Cleveland Browns. Who? Webster Slaughter it was 4. The Houston Oilers starting QB for the 1983 season was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Who was he? Oliver Luck, now better known as Andrew Lucks father. 5. The Tit-Oilers have had 4 different Heisman Trophy winners lead them in rushing in a season. Name the 4 Heisman winners. They were Billy Cannon, Earl Campbell, Mike Rozier, and Eddie George. By the way, I believe Eddie George is actually first in career rushing for The Nipples. 6. In 1988 what opposing Head Coach told an Oilers player to have Jerry Glanville meet him under the stands after a game so that he could "kick his ass"? This was Chuck Noll. What is ironic is that Noll wanted to kick Glanville ass because he thought Glanville was encouraging dirty play by his team. I mean, he is being funny, right? Noll coached one of the dirtiest teams in the history of football with Mean Joe Green etc. and he is complaining about another team being dirty? Funny. 7. The Titans are considered a "minority owned" business. Why? Bud Adams in an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation. In fact, his Uncle at one time was the appointed Chief of the Cherokee Nation. That uncle was also for a few years the President of the Phillips Petroleum Co., which of course is how Bud made his money...in the oile business. 8. What do Chris Johnson and Ernest Byner have in common (besides being RBs)? They both attended East Carolina 9. Believe it or not I used to work for the company that has the current naming rights to the Titans stadium. What is the current name of the stadium and what is the company? The Tits stadium is now called "LP Stadium" named after the Louisiana-Pacific Company. I worked for Georgia/Louisiana-Pacific for my summer after high school. 10. How many years did the Browns and the Tits-Oilers play together in the same division? They played together for 29 years. All the years in the 70s, the 80s, 7 years during the 90s and 2 years during the 00s. 11. In all their years in the AFC Central, how many division titles did the Tits-Oilers win? Three: 1991, 1993, and 2000 12. The Oilers were a charter member of the American Football League. What was the last year that the Tits-Oilers played in the same division with another AFL Charter member? 1969 is correct. They moved into the division with the Browns, Steelers and Bengals in 1970. Though they and the Bengals were in the AFL together, the Bengals are not a charter member. Compare that to say the AFC West which consists of all Charter member AFL teams: Chargers, Raiders, Broncos, Chiefs; or the AFC East which has Jets, Pats, Bills (Dolphins, like the Bengals were an AFL expansion team) Bonus: What team have the Tits-Oilers played the most times in the regular season? The above is a clue: They have played the most games against The Bengals because they played a few game when they were together in the AFL before the merger. They played 2 games a year against the Bengals and Steelers from 1970 to 2001 when they moved to the AFC South, but the Bengals had those few extra AFL games. The Browns and Steelers would have had the same number of games vs. the Nipples, except of course for the Browns 3 inactive years in the 90s.
