THE BROWNS BOARD

Browns Sold For Over $1B

I believe this is a great thing and in the not so distant future, I believe the Browns will make the AFC North the best and toughest division in the entire league. Can you imagine 4 teams from the same division fighting it out every year for only 3 spots in the playoffs? The best part about that is all 4 teams will be deserving of a playoff spot but one will be left out since the West really sucks, lol.

It could be wild seeing the Browns, the Bengals, the Ravens and the Steelers all having 13-3 records with the 3 loses coming to away losses at each divisional opponant. It would all come down to coin flips on which 3 teams out of the division make the playoffs. This happening year after year getting each other ready to win the Super Bowl every year.

Well, things can only get better, right?

He's a Steelers fan from Tennessee and a businessman.

He does not give a shit about you or Cleveland.

And you believe him when he says he's gonna keep the team in a small market?

His family made all their money by putting their businesses on the main roads with high traffic and big markets.

Cleveland peaked in the 1960 US Census.

He was a big enough syeeler fan that he chose the browns. Sounds to me like he never cared for the stools....or the titans before that, or the cowbous begore that.

Looks like the stool bandwagon got one fmaily smaller. Pitts got bigger problems....like the reds crushing all those bucco fans hopes of a pennant

He's a Steelers fan from Tennessee and a businessman.

He was recruited to invest in the Steelers. If it had been the Bengals/Jags/Vikings/Jets/Panthers whatever that he was invited to invest in he probably would. He told the league he would be interested in being a majority owner if a franchise east of the Mississippi came available. The Browns became available.

He does not give a shit about you or Cleveland.

I say that he has now a billion reasons that you are wrong.

And you believe him when he says he's gonna keep the team in a small market?

Yes, because he has no choice. He is locked into Cleveland, legally and morally. He understands two things: A. That the birthplace of the NFL requires an NFL team, and B. That this area is a sleeping giant. It just needs a team that can win before the area goes crazy.

His family made all their money by putting their businesses on the main roads with high traffic and big markets. You apparently have never travelled. Look at the website link to this guy's company. These are truckstops, not fern bars. They need to be located out on the road where the truckers drive...and that is more often in rural areas. They are located on the edges of larger cities or in the rural areas along the Interstates.

Cleveland peaked in the 1960 US Census. So didn't every city in the Northeast and Midwest.

Regarding moving the Browns-

1) Lerner made it the #1 priority when selling out that Haslam agree to never move the team.

2) Even if Haslam wanted to move the team- he couldn't do it, at least until 2029. When Modell pulled the rug out- the best lawyers in Cleveland (Browns fans incidentally) wrote up the contract with the NFL and the team with the biggest poison pill they could dream up, should an owner try to move out of Cleveland. It would be financially impossible for Haslam to move the Browns anywhere.

Fuck the Rooneys' The had their share of shit football.I prefer he looks to the Paul Brown methods.

Yeah, like Paul Browns methods worked out well for the Bengals. Since 68 they teetered between mediocrity and suckdom.

Since the NFL merger in 1970, no team has won more games than the Steelers.

Forget Brown...hope some of Rooney has rubbed off on Haslam.

Before 1970 the stoolers were the worst team EVER. You can start any stat on any day. Just look at MLB. They have stats for night games on tuesday, on the road, from the 7th inning on, with 2 stikes and no one on base against a lefty, on grass...............

Haslam is for tradition.

If he steps in and starts dictating who we take, at least he is a BIG SEC fan and will start calling for them.

I am not saying it would be good he overrides the scouts, but at least he is pulling from the best of the best of college football. He might get it half right.

Whose system do you think Chuck Noll brought to the Steelers? Perhaps the guy that he played for and coached under, i.e. Paul Brown. Though different in several ways, both the Steeler dynasty and the 49ers dynasty were derivative of the Browns dynasty as they were both brought to you by Paul Brown disciples.

Was Paul Brown able to bring a second act to championship form? No. But then, other than Weeb Ewbank, no other coach has been able to do that in history either. PB got his teams to two SBs (not as HC, but as owner/mentor). After his death is when the Bengals became a POS franchise.

Yeah, Mike Brown is not like his father at all.
