THE BROWNS BOARD

Bon Jovi To Kick Off Browns' Season?

Well, there's a first time for everything. Somebody just called Bruce Springsteen a piece of shit. The guy who raised so much money for 9/11 responders. Because he's, uh... "liberal." Not sure what he's done to become a "piece of shit."

If you don't like any liberals, doesn't it get hard to like music, movies, or television? Maybe you should just love everybody, not just the ones who share your exact politics?

We've all become way too political. You'd think we were Italy, choosing between fascists and true socialists. The space between reasonable people of either party in the U.S. is slim and none, relatively speaking. But keep standing up for polarization and hate!

It's interesting to give serious thought to the best rockers of all time as one walks the corridors of the HOF and sees the exhibits.

Many of you probably never had the chance to see Elvis, but he was an incredible performer. In terms of best all around -- singer, stage performer, songwriter, et al -- you have to put Bruce Springsteen at the top, in my view. Freddie Mercury certainly deserves to be near the top of the list.

In terms of rock groups, Pink Floyd was amazing in concert when they did The Wall. Most disappointing group live in concert: The Moody Blues. Best group you never heard of: Blood, Sweat and Tears. Cream was also amazing. with great talent like Ginger Baker, one of the greatest rock drummers of all time.

Living on a Prayer seems to be one of the quintessential rock ballads of the last quarter century plus. Couple months ago I was at the local

college (Ohio Wesleyan) watching a Division III basketball tourney game. At halftime the PA started blasting this song and the place went

absolutely nutz. You had 2000 young underclassmen who were not even born when the song was released singing along at the top of their

lungs. hell, man, even my young boys know the chorus to the song. really can't think of too many other tunes with that level of staying power. I

don't think Bon Jovi is a pillow biter, but he is always contending for metrosexual of the year award.

Bon Jovi puts on a good show. Well worth your effort to go see him. He's got some great songs that you just keep humming. At least the Browns can make a good selection for a rock show.

The good news is that it's very clear to me Lombardi wasn't involved in the decision or the musical act selected would probably have been crap, like his drafts.

Can't remember when all this started, the notion that you can only like or appreciate people (and accomplishments and entertainment) from your own gang or tribe. I don't recall any point prior to maybe Clinton V. Contract with America that people eschewed art, music, whatever, because it was made by a person who didn't agree with your politics. Especially when neither party, you nor the artist you're eschewing, is actually a politician of any kind.

You know when you get to the point that you have to call teachers lazy gold diggers that you've let it get inside your head. Time to become fiercely apolitical because in the end it doesn't much matter. The machine is the machine and it beats most places.

Good. I mean like, whatever.

Clint Eastwood is a conservative pos. Does that mean a "liberal" shouldn't like his movies?

Spotify on your phone or iPad plus a Bluetooth speaker? Still freaks me out. You sit there and select from all the music in the world and it plays on a small but amazing speaker across the room. I picked a Sony over the Jambox and it's pretty amazing.

thanx for the Spotify tip. nice site with super easy navigation.

  • 3 weeks later...

I see this gay-ass thing was cancelled.

Maybe they will learn not to promote the Browns with people who are not related to Cleveland or the Browns in any way.

We need Cleveland bands! Reunite The Raspberries... :excl:

"(Please) Go All the Way" is as an apt of a theme song as I can think of... B)

I was in attendance at the very first Raspberries performance at Cyrus Erie West in North Ridgeville.

Myself, Westside Steve and a few other friends and Rats band members were there.

Absolutely right. And while you're at it, play the music during the game instead of that crap you play now. That' improves the fan experience. At the very least, play Ian Hunter's version of Cleveland Rocks". No brainer.

I think they prefer now to cater to the rap/cw crowd now, don't they? They sometimes forget what building stands about 200-300 yards away.

i found this as a possible play list at the stadium at certain times. Can anyone confirm this? Or state what they have heard played at Browns games?

Game Intro - Always Enter Sandman by Metallica
Browns intro (use for game intro too) - We Ready by Archie
Kickoff - Thunderstruck by AC/DC
TD/FG - Song 2 by Blur

They play JT Money - Hit Em High, Hit Em Low a lot and Crazy Train by Ozzy a lot. Other than that, there isn't really any other songs played a lot.

dont remember the "we ready" song ever being played but thats not to say they never play it either.

I would make Volbeat "a wariors call" a good song for a score or to get the stadium jacked up

could definately do something with this song...splice the intro with various other bits and pieces, and you really got something there.
