THE BROWNS BOARD

Rush-directed by Ron Howard.

I really enjoyed this german made film directed by Ron Howard,of the 1976 Formula 1 racing rivalry between James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhi). I had reservations about Hemsworth in a role, that didnt require chest pounding, and sword weilding but I gotta tell ya. Chris Hemsworth surprised the heck out of Me and did a really nice job...I really feel like Hemsworth role was more of a supporting charactor to Daniel Bruhi's role as Niki Lauda. I think Bruhi stole the show with his riveting performance as Lauda and the passion he exuded in the role. Credit Howard for keeping the dynamics well paced and interesting...out of 5..I give this movie 4 stars.

Seems like Ron Howard movies are always pretty good. I remember the story of Lauda and his all too sudden come back from the severe accident / burns he suffered weeks earlier in a bad crash...

what I didnt realize was his intellegence & drive to win - plus his penchant for being a "richard" to almost everyone he knew and worked with.

James Hunt seemed like a fun guy to be around, and was quite a contrast to Lauda. But seeing Lauda reaching out to Hunt after retirement gave him some redemption

especially when Hunt died at an early age of 45 from heart attack.

I agree the actors Hemsworth and Bruhli did a good job.

I can see what you mean, but I'd be against it generally. Hemsworth just looks too young and naive to play Bond. He should be an older guy, like Connery/Moore/Craig.

As to the lack of personality, I think that's just the direction Craig and the new director(s) have taken the character, towards being a cold blooded killer, especially after what happened in Casino Royale. Layer Cake is a great Daniel Craig film if you haven't seen it, a proper british mobster film, better than lock stock IMHO.

Well Ian Fleming says he originally envisioned David Niven playing James Bond. Not sure if I'd have liked that nearly as well as I think Sean Connery really owns that role. He was, of course, 32 when he first played Bond. My problem with the legend of Jam.es Bond is the fact that it seems to me its turned into a self parody. Too much action too many explosions too many fancy gadgets... I thought the first Daniel Craigs first outing was a little better then its predecessors because he seemed to be more a human being than a superhero. As a matter of fact that's what pisses me off about Batman. He's a human being for chrissake.
