Flyin J
If Clowney is off the board and we dont go QB, this is our guy. Dude is tearing up the combine right now. 4.82 40 yd dash at 332 lb. The Texans are taking him or Clowney.
gftChris
While he looks a good player, I really can't see us going OT with that 4th pick at all. QB, sure, WR, ok, Clowney, fine. But OT I'd say is very unlikely.
MLD Woody
Lewan ran a 4.85. 6'7", 309lb Matt Patchan and Trai Turner also ran 4.84s How about the Miami punter that benched 23 reps and ran a 4.62? Dude is a monster
LogicIsForSquares
I think people would go mental if they went OT with that pick. The guards are the issue on the o-line, right? They can get guards in this draft outside of the first.
Flyin J
None would be the difference maker this guy will be. Those other guys dont have the film or size to match Robinson. Put him at G and our run game is set. McGahee would average 4 with this guy in front of him.
MLD Woody
Official times are in Lewan was the fastest out of all the OL with 4.87 Robinson was a 4.
Flyin J
Lewan has definitely put himself back in top 15 talk, but hes not a fit for us imo.
MLD Woody
Well no shit, we don't need a tackle that high, lol.
VaporTrail
Yeah, I'd rather take Watkins or Evans. Evans measured up at 6'3" 231. Wouldn't be surprised to see him jump Watkins based on the combine.
gftChris
Take a guard at 4? Seriously? I mean, I know Farmer was talking curveballs, but, really?
bbedward
I wouldn't hate it. I'm thinking the rams might take him. I'd prefer a different position, but if we can get another potential Joe Thomas I'd like it.
Tim Couch Pulls Out
The 40 yard dash means absolutely nothing for offensive linemen.
MLD Woody
Lewan also had the 3rd highest broad jump in the last decade with 9'9''
Flyin J
The 40 yard dash means absolutely nothing for offensive linemen. Not true. The ten yard is what most people want to see, but overall speed is never a bad thing.
Flyin J
Take a guard at 4? Seriously? I mean, I know Farmer was talking curveballs, but, really?yes, really. Id say finding an impact guard who can move out to tackle (he may start at RT moving Schwartz inside) would improve this team more than any position outside of QB. This is assuming we dont add a G in FA of course.
D Bone
Well, if we need to win the inaugural 'OL 40yd dash event', then I guess these guys are our best bet.

Also, its funny reading these OLineman tweeting how they wish they had these guys speed. It matters.
Flyin J
Combine performances rarely "put someone back into Top 15 consideration." Especially 40-yard dash times for OL. Haha, well I dont think he had really dropped out of the first round. And its not just the 40, hes grading out great in most categories. And go ask Lane Johnson if a 40 time helped him. Flyin J
That's not my point. My point is Lane Johnson was already ranked highly by GMs and their scouts. The media draft enterprise bumped him after the combine, and not just for his 40 time. Mayock, Rang, Miller, etc., are good, but their assessments, especially pre-combine aren't actually reality... and Lewan isnt? I never saw any rankings with Johnson top 15 pre-combine. Tim Couch Pulls Out
Not true. The ten yard is what most people want to see, but overall speed is never a bad thing. It's absolutely true. There is not a single comparable game situation for an offensive lineman to run 40 yards unhindered. If a lineman is running 40 yards in a straight line without touching anyone, he isn't doing his job. Overall speed is never a bad thing, but the 40 yard dash doesn't measure what you need it to as far as OL speed. These are 330 LB guys. They take a full head of steam to get going. They won't get that in a game. Come frills, shuttle runs, those are what matters. It
jcam222
Yes I would think for OL shuttles and bench press would be of the most interest. I may be in the minority but I can see us taking this guy at 4 and putting him at tackle and sliding Schwartz to guard.

But overall speed is also a minor plus as it gives a glimpse into a players overall athleticism, coordination and flexibility.
