Running back Adam Muema left the NFL scouting combine Sunday because he says God told him to do so.

Muema, a former star at San Diego State, told U-T San Diego on Sunday that he was "following God" by deciding not to work out.

Muema said God told him he would play for the Seattle Seahawks -- his "dream" -- if he skipped the combine.

"[God] told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," Muema told the U-T.

Well...ok then.

Not to change the subject from the usual banter... but the guy is now missing. http://nfl.si.com/2014/02/26/adam-muema-missing-2014-nfl-combine/?eref=sihp

Adam Muema’s high school football coach Lou Farrar told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the running back’s current situation is “a big mystery,” as several people close to Muema reportedly have not been able to get in contact with him since he left the NFL combine citing religious reasons.

“[God] told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace,” Muema told the Union-Tribune after bailing prior to his positional group work out in Indianapolis over the weekend. According to the paper’s Michael Gehlken, Muema said that God told him he would play for the Seahawks if he did not take part in the combine.

But a few days later, it appears that many of Muema’s friends and advisors are simply hoping that he’s OK.

“I have no idea where is,” a person close to Muema said. “[san Diego State coaches] have been trying to track him down, too. Every time they do, his phone is off. … It’s a frustrating deal.”

“It’s a big mystery,” said Lou Farrar, Muema’s former football coach at Charter Oak High [Calif.]. “At this point, we just hope he’s safe. As long as he’s safe. That’s all that really matters.”

Muema rushed for more than 2,700 yards over his final two seasons at San Diego State, then declared early for the 2014 draft. He did make his way to Indianapolis for the start of the combine but departed before doing any work outs.

The projected third-day draft pick offered no clarity regarding his plans moving forward — Will he work out at his Pro Day? Will he interview with teams prior to the draft? Already, his decision to leave Indianapolis suddenly will have NFL teams approaching him cautiously in the coming weeks — not because players with strong religious beliefs are frowned upon, but because of how this all has played out.

"God told me not to draft you."

Reminds me of an old bit from Sam Kinison.

Pat Robertson: "The Lord told me to run for president."

Sam: "Yeah, I'll bet he did...well, the Lord must want you to look like a complete ass in the political arena, huh?"
