jeffinwv
Do they have a lot of money to throw at these FA,s? Denver seems to have plenty,I cant see them having more room than cle
Zombo
Last I heard we were at about 28 mil. Plenty of space for this year and beyond. Gotta get deals done with Haden, Taylor, Cameron and Gordon. And work things out with Mack one way or the other. Z
gftChris
We started in the $50m region. On the proviso Mack signs on, make it $40m. I think Whitner and Dansby contributer about $9.5m against the cap this year total, so down to about $30m. Add on Trufant's $1.5m, 2 year deal and $28m sounds about close enough. jeffinwv
so the browns have 28 million to spend but have these above four to pay yet.how much of this 28 will they take up?
Zombo
Depends on who we re-sign and how we restructure it. I wouldn't worry about cap right now. We can compete with anybody cap-wise. Z

I wouldn't be shocked to see Taylor go. At least, he's probably 3rd or 4th on that list. Haden, you're probably looking something like a 5 year, $50m contract - based roughly on what Talib got, he's that ball park of ability. SO put another $10m on the cap space. Gordon - I doubt he'd get Johnson/Fitzgerald money, $16m per year. But another season like the one just gone and he's in to that second tier easily - around $12m per year. Taylor and Cameron would both probably be in the $5m ball park. But neither are really *elite* players.
gftChris
Check out Over The Cap - it seems to have everything you'd need. Next year, for example (in the link), we're currently sitting at a little over $70m in cap taken up. So about another $70m to spend, minus this and next year's rookies. runyon27
This site seems to be pretty good with cap figures, it even have the Whitner/Dansby signings included. This says we still have 40 million in cap space, I hope thats true! http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Browns&Year=2014

If he puts up numbers like last year bolstered by an additional two games he will get 1st tier money either here or elsewhere.
The Gipper
Don't forget that every team needs space on their cap to sign their draftees. Not sure how much they must reserve. At least 10-15 mill. no?

John.R.Brown1968
Won't the cap go up again next year as well? It went up like 10mil this year. Granted, can't really plan for that to happen, but in all likelihood it will. It may not go up a lot, but enough to give us some room. There's also restructuring that can take place, etc.
John.R.Brown1968
Anyone have an idea of how Mack affects the cap if he leaves? Does that free up the entire $10mil?
