The better corner options w/experience have been snatched up. I say take his gun/s away, give him a cap gun (if necessary), provide him with a designated driver and sign 'im up.

Seriously, if Pettine wants him signed it's not like Pettine doesn't know what he's getting, being that Pettine was his coach with the Jets and all.

BEREA, Ohio – Cornerback Aaron Berry has had a troubled two-year stretch on and off the field.

After multiple arrests and a serious knee injury, he’s looking to jump-start his playing career, perhaps with the Browns. The New York Post reported Berry visited with the club on Monday.

The Browns are searching for help at cornerback, and reportedly were interested in the high-profile likes of Darrelle Revis, who signed with New England, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who landed with the New York Giants.

If the Browns are considering the 25-year-old Berry, who missed all last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, it likely would be in a reserve role.

The undrafted free agent played the 2010 and 2011 seasons with the Detroit Lions. His second NFL season produced career highs in games (11), starts (three), tackles (31) and passes defensed (11).

But the Lions cut him in 2012 after Berry was arrested twice in the off-season – once for allegedly pointing a gun at three people in Harrisburg, Pa., and another time for suspicion of DUI.

Browns coach Mike Pettine coached the 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back in 2012 with the New York Jets. It was Pettine’s final season as Jets’ defensive coordinator. After serving a league-imposed, three-game ban for personal conduct violations, Berry was signed by the Jets and he appeared in seven games.

He suffered his knee injury in Jets’ training camp last season. Berry has played in just 19 games in four years.

There seems to be a theme on this team of people who have something to prove..

Haslem - First time nfl owner in trouble with the feds

Farmer- First time GM

Pettine - high school coach living in his Dad's shadown climbing the ranks in the shadow of Rex Ryan. Hawkins not making a team, runner up on "fourth and long"

bounces around the cfl until he gets a shot on the bengals.

Shannahan- coming out of his dad's shadow, RG3 drama.

Gordon - multiple off the field issues in college, and one suspension in NFL

Tate - shadow of Foster and injury issues

Hoyer - backup coming back from injury that took him away from his opportunity as starting qb of his childhood team

Dansby - cut by a team, had his best year at 32 and looks to fufill his dream of DPOY which he felt he was robbed in not getting

Hawkins - couldnt make a team to save his life, runner up on "fourth and long" bounced around the CFL and made the team with cinci

so why not a troubled CB with one shot left?
