manbearpig
http://www.cleveland.com/livingston/index....grinch_tha.html "Maybe this was business. But it felt personal. This seems like a big Bronx cheer from David Stern, the NBA commissioner, to the Cavaliers and, particularly, owner Dan Gilbert. Two days after LeBron James' historic midweek 52-point triple double in New York, it's downgraded? Why not Thursday, when bloggers already were questioning the 10 rebounds with which James was credited? Because Thursday was the day Gilbert mocked Stern with a series of made-up words that spoofed the commissioner and, by implication, belittled his basketball knowledge. Cavs guard Maurice Williams got a second All-Star Game snub Thursday. The first came from Eastern Conference coaches earlier in the week. After Orlando's Jameer Nelson was hurt, the second came from Stern himself, when he chose Boston's Ray Allen to take Nelson's place." I encourage you to read on, it gets better. manbearpig
In response, Gilbert played off Ben Wallace's coinage when he called the coaches' omission of Williams a "shamockery." Stern's dis to the Cavs' point guard meant the Cavs, with a better record than Boston (three All-Stars) and Orlando (three before Nelson went down) has only one representative, James, in the All-Star Game. Gilbert sent out an e-mail that said, in part, "not naming him [Williams] as the natural and obvious replacement for the unfortunately injured Jameer Nelson is stupidiculous, idillogical and preposterageous." A day later, NBA sleuths had docked James a rebound. Can you imagine they would do that to Michael Jordan? To, you know, just pick a name at random.
