Call it 200 kids per year killed in the UK, by the largest estimate on that link. If you scale that up to the usa - 70m -> 300m - you end up with something like 800-900 child deaths per year.

 

America (apparently, in 2007, most recent I could find at short notice) has 1200 child deaths, which would seem a fairly reasonable number, given the natural fluctuation of these things.

 

Then on top of that, you have over 2100 deaths by firearm.
