Guest ATENEARS
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Sasha Pavlovic to miss 4-6 weeks with ankle injury by Brian Windhorst / Plain Dealer reporter Monday February 09, 2009, 2:01 PM INDEPENDENCE -- The Cavaliers will be without Sasha Pavlovic for 4-6 weeks after the guard suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Pavlovic underwent an MRI exam today. He suffered the injury to his right ankle in the first quarter Sunday when he landed awkwardly. He did not return to the game. Pavlovic had missed the previous two games while suffering with the flu. With Pavlovic sidelined, the Cavs likely will have just 10 players available for Tuesday's game against the Pacers in Indiana. Guards Delonte West and Tarence Kinsey both took part in practice today for the first time since being injured, but neither will play before the All-Star break this weekend. West had the cast removed from his injured right wrist late last week. He wore a wrap on the wrist during practice today. Kinsey is recovering from a sprained right ankle, suffered late last month. Rookie forward Darnell Jackson was assigned to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League after Sunday's game, giving the Cavs an open spot on the roster. Pavlovic had been starting at shooting guard for West. Wally Szczerbiak replaced Pavlovic when he was out with the flu and likely will start again Tuesday, despite having to wear a mask to protect a broken nose.
