Kvoethe Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Seattle has just raised ticket prices again to the highest in the NFL a whopping 398 dollar average, Steelers 11th with 218 dollar average Browns, cheapest in the NFL, at 124 bucks average.
Tour2ma Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 What percentage of the Browns' Gross Income is "the gate" these days?
Sir Barksalot Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 IMO even if we become winners per say I dont think it will really effect our ticket prices, Being that our owners main source of income is not the NFL team in which he owns. I dont think we will see him try to gouge the fans. At least not in Cleveland. Blue collar pride seems to be a theme for him so I dont think we will ever see him charge white collar pricing

Plus there's not enough people with that kind of money in Cleveland. It's best fans are the hard working blue collar people
Cbus Brownie Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Agreed. Plus there's not enough people with that kind of money in Cleveland. It's best fans are the hard working blue collar people Lol, you're being naive. Can tell you weren't a business major. If we see the Browns making a playoff run, you'll see he avg ticket price go up substantially. Above post didnt mention wheher those were avg from the organization or just in General. it's not necessarily the owner manipulating, the secondary market is where the big mark ups come from.

What major industry does cleveland have that is producing masses of rich folks? Seattle has the technology industry, so they can get away with 300 per ticket on avg.
Adoug319 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I'm not saying they wouldn't go up, I'm just saying that even if they became perennial playoff contenders each year, ticket prices would still be somewhere in the middle of the pack
hoorta Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Seattle has just raised ticket prices again to the highest in the NFL a whopping 398 dollar average, Steelers 11th with 218 dollar average Browns, cheapest in the NFL, at 124 bucks average. The Browns ever start winning- bet the ranch ticket prices will go up substantially My season tickets would cost about triple anywhere else. Agreed. Plus there's not enough people with that kind of money in Cleveland. It's best fans are the hard working blue collar people Sure there are- just wait and see. The NFLwon't care. Joe Sixpack long ago got the short end of the stick from the NFL. One look at the concession stand prices will tell you all you need to know. Wonder why people Tailgate, and have to stagger to their seats? First Energy beer price- $9.50. per beer. Twelve pack of Busch= same price. Some low budget fans may not be the smartest, but that equation doesn't entail advanced calculus to figure out. It's all about TV revenue, and sponsorship $$$$. When Annhauser-Busch told the NFL- we don't like the way you're handing the Peterson child abuse thing- and we might pull the megamillon exclusive right deal- the NFL asked them how high would you like us to jump?

It's not producing tons of "rich" people but there's plenty of money being thrown around there
TexasAg1969 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 And how much does Detroit charge on average? I would look there to see where prices might go in Cleveland. Kvoethe-could you post your source?
Xanthros Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Well you can gauge the ticket prices by how much they go up for the Cavs now that Lebron is back...they WILL go up. Plus if the team is winning people will pay whatever to see them. The owner will most assuredly use that.
The Gipper Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 What major industry does cleveland have that is producing masses of rich folks? Seattle has the technology industry, so they can get away with 300 per ticket on avg. Polymers.

Kvoethe-could you post your source? https://time.com/3387767/nfl-ticket-price/ The articles main focus is the % increase since 2010 for all teams, Seattle having largest percent increase, and then shows current ticket averages. Detroit avg 150
Tour2ma Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Took some searching, but found an old Packers statement that actually details the franchise's income breakdown... in an Excel spreadsheet no less. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCgQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fanc.hh-pub.com%2FBrownEbook%2FGreen%2520Bay%2520Packers%2520Income%2520Statement.xls&ei=SoocVN7SMYqHyATd9oGYBQ&usg=AFQjCNEPa1OiyX0e69OxMMMy74whdltf0w Shows that Home Ticket sale are a reasonably minor part of their income (<15%). Same should be more or less true of every franchise. Bottom line: What happens to Browns ticket prices will reflect what return Jimmy wants on his investment. As for impact of Cleveland's economic status... minor consideration at best. Browns are a regional franchise and things like the shale gas revolution are factors as well. That plus a revived auto industry ought to be enough to crank a service economy's engine...
