MLD Woody
A trained monkey ought to be able to beat whoever the Democrats put up after Obama gets done with the party uhhh... unless that trained monkey starts talking about "traditional marriage" and limiting women's access to birth control and other generations old social stances I would bet in Hillary right now, definitely. The Cysko Kid
No. Hillary is ugly and that's all it really takes to lose a presidential election in this country. Sad but true. The kids you think are so informed and interested in gay rights...are not.
LogicIsForSquares
Unless the Rs revamp their stances, they will still likely lose to Hillary. Anything can happen between now and then so nothing is concrete. I just think the Rs are not at all winning the public image war for new voters. I will continue to vote libertarian because the two party system can piss up a rope.

Westside Steve
I think Woody may be kidding himself as to the importance of his one main issue, gay marriage. Yes I think lots of people are willing to accept it, and many more don't particularly oppose it with much energy. Still I don't think it's a hot button issue for the masses. I would hope that most sane people would avoid letting it trump the failures of this inept and dishonest administration. (an administration ran against gay marriage in the first place) WSS
LogicIsForSquares
I'll tell you this. Games don't mean much when everything unravels.
MLD Woody
I didn't say it was the main issue, I was using it as an example of a social issue where having an outdated viewpoint will not help. I also mention birth control. I'm pretty sure the Reps ate getting killed by the Dems on female support. Also, if you look at the polls, more than just the youth are pro gay marriage. I am basing my prediction based off of polls now. Obviously anything can change, but Hillary is out in front of all the Rep candidates right now. Also, I'm not claiming "the kids" or anything other group is super informed. I think the average person isn't that bright. I am for a test based weighted voting system. Browns149
I think the R's can win, if they put someone out there that isn't a bible thumping, let the rich get richer, we are not all equal candidate. But if they continue putting out people that quote the bible, and love the rich people, and want to limit rights of the people, they are not going to win. Cysko, do you regularly frequent websites with the phrase "Exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias" in the title? It is. Joe Scarborough is feel alone Republican on a panel show every morning. I watch it regularly. Joe is not very conservative and the reason he keeps his gig on MSNBC is that he spends a lot of time criticizing his, the Republican, party. He's a moderate at best, but better than nothing for that station. The rest of the shows are so far left and straightened they make The Blaze seem middle of the road. LogicIsForSquares
The Young Turks are anything but conservative and Cenk Uygur left MSNBC because they blatantly told him not to criticize democrats. I definitely wouldn't say the Blaze is middle of the road. They aren't quite as over the top as Fox but the Blaze is still owned by Glenn Beck. Well, I am not doubting the people you are describing would be hurt by this. But there also includes people that may have good school performance but be completely misinformed about the world around them. Some groups of home schooled kids perhaps. Either way, idc. I'm not trying to protect any one group here. I just think that kind of weighted voting would be good for us

As I say I have watched my share of MSNBC and as crazy as they are I think Matthews and Rachel Maddow are pretty bright people. Just so far to the left they are crazy. I don't think Schultz is that bright and especially not Sharpton. I also think Glenn Beck is brilliant but he has a streak of PT Barnum in him for sure. MLD Woody
I think there are smart people out there, that use people like Cal (and liberal Cal) to make money. They know exactly what to say and exactly how to phrase it to get that base, and the exaggerate everything in the process. They pander to these people and it makes the successful. I just hope that, on either side, they don't actually believe what they are saying.
Westside Steve
Sounds like Barack Obama! It is, of course, hard to say. I would guess that most of the broadcast professionals probably started out with right or left core values and tweaked the radio show or the TV show to better communicate with the target audience. But of course if I were offered a well paid TV slot to carry water for the president I'd probably take it. WSS

WSS or to insult and attack every single thing the president does, while making sure not to be *too* racist about it... Politicians are a little different than what I'm describing, kinda. I mean, there are politicians on both sides that may start out honest, and more towards the middle, then they get more and more fringe to appease the groups that give them money. I don't think every politician believes 100% of what they say. Actually, that's pretty similar to these TV personalities. By "tweak" its more fringe. Now, which happened first... did Americans become very politically bipolar and then the TV personalities fed off of this, or did the TV personalities drive this chasm? Or, is it just a continuous feedback loop? Or, are we not that much more bipartisan than normal, but the internet and other forms of media have given the fringe a louder voice?
