The Cysko Kid
I'm not typically a fan of live albums either as they usually sound like shit but there are some performers who get a reputation as "live acts" due to their shows. The talking heads are one such band. Billy Joel has garnered a reputation as a live performer as well. I've seen him twice and he kicked ass both times. Chicopee John
What's yours? Mine is "Stop making sense" By the talking heads http://youtu.be/obAtn6I5rbY http://youtu.be/oh5RBoP0lGE I saw the Talking Heads a couple of times on the "Stop Making Sense" Tour and each show was 'killer' from beginning to end. I believe that tour was the pinnacle of that band's existence. In terms of live ALBUMS, though, I still have to say it's the Allman Brothers Live at Filmore East, circa 1971. The Cysko Kid
The foo fighters have a great reputation as a live band as well. This is the best version of this song in my opinion yes even over Freddie mercury. Taylor Hawkins rocks it out.
The Cysko Kid
Of course no one could work the crowd like Fred mercury. VaporTrail
I don't really have an entire album that's my favorite, but here are some of my favorite songs that are better when they're performed live. In Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly, the solos and riffs have so much more feeling than the studio version. The acoustics of the concert version give the bass and vocals a reverberation that booms versus the rather plain sounding studio version. The trio of female backup vox has a whole hell of a lot more soul in person. Into the distance, a ribbon of blackStretched to the point of no turning backA flight of fancy on a windswept fieldStanding alone my senses reeledA fatal attraction is holding me fast,How can I escape this irresistible grasp? Can't keep my eyes from the circling skiesTongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, IIce is forming on the tips of my wingsUnheeded warnings, I thought, I thought of everythingNo navigator to find my way homeUnladened, empty and turned to stoneA soul in tension -- that's learning to flyCondition grounded but determined to tryCan't keep my eyes from the circling skiesTongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, IAbove the planet on a wing and a prayer,My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,Across the clouds I see my shadow flyOut of the corner of my watering eyeA dream unthreatened by the morning lightCould blow this soul right through the roof of the nightThere's no sensation to compare with thisSuspended animation, a state of blissCan't keep my mind from the circling skiesTongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
VaporTrail
Again, the studio version of this song is pedestrian, minimizing the role of the guitar, and instead relying on an unsettling emptiness accompanying the industrial synth. In the live version, they crank up the distortion on the guitars, creating a driving force as a lead-in to a much more emotional performance from vocalist Trent Reznor. The anger and emotion that he's able to channel through his voice through this song regularly sends shivers down my spine. The cheers from the crowd at the opening of the song get the adrenaline flowing, and this song is a staple of my lifting playlist. hey Godwhy are you doing this to me?am i not living up to what i'm supposed to be?why am i seething with this animosity?hey Godi think you owe me a great big apology.terrible lieterrible lieterrible lieterrible liehey Godi really don't know what you mean.seems like salvation come only in our dreams.i feel my hatred grow all the more extreme. hey Godcan this world really be as sad as it seems?terrible lieterrible lieterrible lieterrible liedon't take it away from me.i need someone to hold on to. don't take it away from me.i need someone to hold on to.hey Godthere's nothing left for me to hide.i lost my ignorance, security and pride.i'm all alone in a world you must despise.hey Godi believed your promises, your promises and lies.terrible lieterrible lieterrible lieterrible lieyou made me throw it all away.my morals left to decay.how many you betray.you've taken everything.terrible lie.my head is filled with disease.my skin is begging you please.i'm on my hands and knees. i want so much to believe.i need someone to hold on to.i need someone to hold on to.i need someone i need someone.i need someone to hold on to.i give you everything. my sweet everything.hey Godi really don't know who i am.in this world of piss

DieHardBrownsFan
This song reminds me of the Philippines. Almost every bar in Subic Bay played it, with the whores dancing around.
