The Gipper
Here are the Nominations in the major categories for the Oscars: Best Picture: Grand Budapest Hotel....saw it....it was good Selma Whiplash American Sniper The Imitation Game Boyhood.....saw it, hated it Birdman The Theory of Everything Best Actress: Marion Cotillard..Two Days and One Night....didn't see it, but never like her Julianne Moore...Still Alice Reese Witherspoon...Wild Felicity Jones....The Theory of Everything Rosamund Pike....saw it, liked her Best Actor Steve Carrell Foxcatcher Michael Keaton....Birdman Eddie Redmayne...The Theory of Everything Benedict Cumberbatch....The Imitation Game Bradley Cooper...American Sniper Best Supporting Actress Meryl Streep...Into the Woods Laura Dern....Wild Patricia Arquette...Boyhood...saw it...she was just OK. I liked her better in Holes and in Medium Emma Stone....Birdman Keira Knightly....The Imitation Game Best Supporting Actor Mark Rufalo....Foxcatcher Ethan Hawk....Boyhood....saw it...again, he was just meh J.K. Simmons....Whiplash (you know him as the guy from the Farmer's Insurance commercials) Robert Duvall....The Judge Edward Norton...Birdman Best Director Richard Linklater....Boyhood....saw it..the only interesting thing about it was that it was filmed over like 12-14 years.....otherwise a big snooze fest. Think Interstellar only much longer Anthony McCarten...The Theory of Everything Damien Chazelle...Whiplash Jason Hall....American Sniper Paul Thomas Anderson ...Inherent Vice (son of Ghoulardi). Saw it.. I have like him in the past but this really his worst effort to date. Has no business being on this list.

The Gipper
Saw The Imitation Game today with WSS.....outstanding. Both Cumberbatch and Knightly excellent as well. The "gay" thing was really not the main thrust of the film at all. It was downplayed, and only became an important factor in the end.....but the story had little to do with the fact that the guy was gay.

Westside Steve
There were to actual storylines and the gay part was substantial. It had more to do with the story near the end however. It was tastefully done and the code breaking portion of the film was engrossing from the beginning. Really good film. Still it will get extra points from the Academy for the homosexual angle. Still it's a worthy nomination. WSS
