Man in Finland gets $60,000 speeding ticket

Mar 4th 2015 7:54AM

Breaking the law in Finland will cost you, but exactly how much depends on a couple of things. One is the severity of the crime committed, and the other is the lawbreaker's income.

The latter factor is in place to ensure that punishments are equally felt by all be they rich or poor. Due to his millionaire status, Reima Kuisla was handed a roughly 60 thousand dollar ticket for traveling 14 miles per hour over the posted limit.

Before issuing the citation, authorities looked up the man's 2013 tax return and calculated the amount accordingly.Though the ticket value is based on long-standing law, Kuisla feels that he's been treated unfairly.

He wrote on his Facebook page, "Finland is impossible to live in for certain kinds of people who have high incomes and wealth."

Before the age of technology, the nation's top earners did have a bit of a loophole. Back then when asked to state their annual income, a number of them just lied. Though numerous rich people have complained about the sliding scale system, based on responses to Kuisla's grievances, not everybody is sympathetic to their woes.

One individual astutely pointed out, "If you follow the rules you won't have to pay fines."

for at least the next two years. I think it was Margaret Thatcher who said that

socialism works fine until the money runs out.

Tax the internet, tax mileage driven, tax farmers for farting cows and farm engines,

tax thermostats, tax every damn thing.

It still won't get a marxist gov enough money to make it work.

That is what the russian gov is feeling now. So, it's back to what does work - taking

the wealth from the Ukraine, which is exactly what and why stalin did to the Ukraine.

History repeats itself all too often, there is never enough money to fund sloth. And that is exactly

what happened in the soviet union - alcholism, lack of freedom, fear and loathing across most of their society.

But, for a good while, they had free stuff.

Anyways, that ticket is just an excuse to gouge those who still have money. The wealthy should leave Finland,

before all their money is gone.

and yes, that is the directlon we are headed. Note how Obamao and co. want the richer, and middle class,

"to pay THEIR 'FAIR' SHARE".

Capitalism isn't working all that well for a significant amount of Americans as well.

The problem with ALL social and economic theory is the human factor. I just wish we as Americans are smart enough to rise above the labels and develop a social, legal and economic system that has utilitarian principles.

utiliarianism?

read Ayn Rand's "Anthem".

All for the good of the "we". Whatever benefits the most of society?

Who gets to decide what the "benefits" are?

warped utopian nonsense. Taking all of everyone's money, who has plenty enough of it, taking

everybodies guns, forcing people into careers chosen by the state...

now who does that sound like....? Soviet Union maybe? Stalin? Mao? Hitler?

I'll go with freedom, and the God-given rights to all individuals.

There is no "for the common good" that doesn't enslave individuals across the board.

Again the practice has always been the issue.

Love those God-given rights until terrorism strikes and we get the Patriot Act? Libertarian or should men decide which rights God gave us?

I know, the Patriot Act sucks, with no protections, but it hasn't affected my rights at all.

The Founders decided, that's why Obamao and the rest of the leftists despise our

Constitution/Bill of Rights.

The left bitched about the Patriot Act out of feigned "terror"....only to go silent about it

as soon as Obamao got elected.

Weird, eh? Good job on bring that up, though, while this corrupt sumbeech president has been in

our WH for over six years....
