Any David Bromberg Fans Out There

Recommended Posts

Saw him - The David Bromberg Quinted - in a local High School Auditorium last night.

Multi, Multi talented musician that just keeps getting better as he closes in on 70 years old.

If he plays in Cleveland, do yourself a favor and enjoy the show.

No sophisticated listeners, I guess.

From my samplings it seems that he does some folk, some folksy blues. A little laid back.

Yes and a lot of that is why he had so much trouble selling records over the years.

Hard for his music to be 'categorized': R&R? Bluegrass? Country? Blues? Traditional?

He has always done well within a small circle of fans and a large circle of other musicians.

Ironically, his first album in over a decade, "Just A Little Mad' is surmised to be a statement on how the new "Folk/Roots/Americana" segment of music has been where he's been for nearly 50 years.

He stopped playing music for over ten years and, instead, focused on restoring, apprasing, etc. antique / vintage violins.

Tough to find his music anywhere on College Stations who play the Folk/Roots/Americana stuff.

You'd like him live. Like a lot of performers/entertainers, he comes across better in person than on 'vinyl'.

Any way, this was more of a recommendation to see him if he comes around (any small club) in the area.

Like him, or not, you now have heard of him.

Wikipedia:

David Bromberg (born September 19, 1945) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter.[1][2] An eclectic artist, Bromberg plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics, and the ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time.

Bromberg has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep) and Bob Dylan. He co-wrote the song "The Holdup" with former Beatle George Harrison, who played on Bromberg's self-titled 1972 album. In 2008, he was nominated for a Grammy Award.[3]
