WPB Dawg Fan
This guy seems to be a pretty good fit for us. He would give us a nickle back...and he would free up Cribbs from his return duties so he can go SS or WR. Adding Chris Carr could free up Joshua Cribbs by Tony Grossi, Plain Dealer Reporter Tuesday March 03, 2009, 9:02 AM Chuck Crow/The Plain DealerJoshua Cribbs. That talk of the Browns finally getting more out of Josh Cribbs on offense and defense might be more than just talk. The first sign of a commitment to expand Cribbs' roles is an expected visit Tuesday by Tennessee free agent Chris Carr. Carr is a cornerback by trade, but has made his mark with the Titans as a return specialist. If the Browns use Cribbs more on offense, or defense, as indicated by coach Eric Mangini recently, they might reduce his workload as a returner. Carr was fourth in the NFL last year with a kickoff return average of 28.1 yards. Cribbs was 16th at 25.2. Carr also bettered Cribbs in punt return average last year, 10.1 to 8.1. Carr, who is 5-10 and 180 pounds, visited the Detroit Lions on Monday. He said in Detroit he wants to play more cornerback and would probably decide among Tennessee, Detroit and Cleveland after visiting the Browns. I like this...hopefully he signs on with us. Vegasdogg
180lbs at CB? He'd have to play Nickel I'd think. He'd better come cheap. We need a pass rush, not a plethora of small CB's. I like his return ability, but unless we're thinking of starting Cribbs somewhere, he can handle the dual duties.

This would allow cribbs to tryout as a safety a role many feel he would be an absolute bruiser at once he learned the ropes and cribbs is a fast learner.. Vegasdogg
I don't think Cribbs is that fast of a learner. Safety in the NFL is not something you pick up on the fly. He is not going to be a good starting safety in the league with one mini-camp/training camp. Yeah he is an athlete, but he couldn't beat out Steptoe at WR. What makes you think he can replace our starters at Safety?
CLEVELandMILIDH
Carr would give Ravens versatilityComment Email Print Share By John Clayton ESPN.com Archive The Baltimore Ravens continued to restock their depleted secondary by reaching an agreement in principle with Titans cornerback Chris Carr. Carr, according to a source, agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal Saturday. He plans to fly Monday to Baltimore to take a physical and finalize the deal. He joined cornerback Domonique Foxworth in a revamped secondary that has lost Chris McAllister, Samari Rolle and Corey Ivy. What made Carr so valuable is that he will be a versatile third cornerback and a nickel corner. He also can play safety, if necessary. His signing with Baltimore also gives him a chance to reunite with assistant coach Chuck Pagano, who coached him in Oakland. Carr was an undrafted jewel of the Raiders, entering the league in 2005 and playing with the Raiders through 2007. He signed a restricted free-agency tender last year and went to the Titans. He's had six starts at cornerback during his NFL career. His added value is his ability to be a return specialist. By signing the two-year deal, Carr would have a chance to be a free agent again at the age of 27.
