After 13 seasons in Baltimore, Stover must move onMatt Stover’s career with the Baltimore Ravens has come to an end.

According to several sources within the organization, the Ravens have informed Stover that he is no longer in the team's plan for the 2009 season.

Stover, the only remaining member of the team that moved to Baltimore in 1996 has played in every game in Ravens history.

He has led a storied career as he currently ranks 5th in the NFL’s all-time scoring leaders. He is also the all-time leader in game-winning field goals, holds the NFL record for consecutive PAT (extra points), and holds the record for the most games with four or more field goals with 26.

Stover, who turned 41 in January, has been one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history. Over the past few years, his inability to effectively provide deep kickoffs has been the only question over his future with the team.

It was anticipated that if the Ravens chose to re-sign Stover for the 2009 season, they would also need to use an additional roster spot on a kickoff specialist.

In an effort to get younger and only carry one kicker, the Ravens have given Stover the option to find an opportunity with another team. It is presumed that he will not opt for retirement and will make every attempt to catch-on somewhere—presumably a team that plays indoors in order to maximize his accuracy and avoid bad-weather conditions and wind.

--I'm glad they are switching kickers, Stover has been money from 45-in forever

That just leaves Ozzie sitting upstairs as the last real thread to "The Theft."

I hope Stover goes somewhere where he kicks a game winning FG as time expires versus the Rats.
