New legislation in reaction to a crime that would not have been prevented by this new legislation is absurd to me. Someone passed a background check to purchase the firearms and then gave the guns to the people on the terror watch list.

 

It was a straw purchase and laws already exist on the books to deal with those purchases.

Legislation that wouldn't remotely address what precipitated the shooting. That is the equivalent of furiously pushing through a trade bill in response to a bridge collapse.
