The Gipper
Here is a link to the Oscar Nominations. http://oscar.go.com/news/nominations/oscar-nominations-2016-the-complete-list-of-nominees A few surprises: Mad Max: Fury Road nominated for Best Picture. Not in a million years would I have thought that would happen. Not that it was not a good, well made, well acted movie....its just that shit like that don't get Oscar Nominated. Sylvester Stallone, nominated for best Supporting Actor. I have not seen this yet, but I was under the impression that since the Original Rocky, this series, and Sly....were basically persona non grata with the awards crowd. Charlotte Rampling. Supporting Actress. Back in the 70s she was just about the hottest dish around. I can't say that she has aged that well.....though, she is over 70 now. Oscars are little more than glad-handing and back-slapping among self important members of the country club. I take NOTHING away from the art of acting nor of movie making but I do have a problem with all types of 'award' shows, etc.(not more than cynicism because I really don't care) PS Ms Rampling never lost a single ounce of sex appeal, IMHO
The Gipper
Oscars are little more than glad-handing and back-slapping among self important members of the country club. Self important is a good term.....that is why I am saying that movies like Mad Max, and guys like Stallone don't get nominated. These do NOT seem to be the prototypical "self important" type of situations that the Oscars usually go for. These seem to be saying that "the common man" will have a chance. I take NOTHING away from the art of acting nor of movie making but I do have a problem with all types of 'award' shows, etc.(not more than cynicism because I really don't care) PS Ms Rampling never lost a single ounce of sex appeal, IMHO I don't know. She still has the class....but I don't know about the look.

Westside Steve
Hard to say, I don't think Charlotte Rampling was as pretty as Kathleen Turner when they were young. Just an opinion. WSS

The Gipper
I give credit to Charlotte Rampling for this: she never succumbed to the use of plastic surgery, from what I can tell.
