One Post
First of all it's the zoo's fault. A three year old getting in an encapture for wild gorillas? The mom was horrified and you would be too.

bbedward
Parents and the zoo should be held accountable. You can't complain about them shooting the gorilla, the boy's life is more important.

JPPT1974
The parents should not had let the boy that was only three-years old go into the zoo. But the zoo should have had a huge sign telling them not to pet the gorillas. So both are at fault. As the zoo should had politely yet firmly not had let the parents do that. LogicIsForSquares
I wonder why they didn't shoot him with a sleeper dart jobbie...knock him out.... LogicIsForSquares
Ultimately, shitty parents are at fault. Their negligence nearly got their kid killed and resulted in the death of a gorilla that was just doing what wild animals do.
DieHardBrownsFan
should have let the gorilla play with the kid. Now an endangered animal is dead, and some kid will grow up on EBT.
StinkHole
I wonder why they didn't shoot him with a sleeper dart jobbie...knock him out.... Stuart Because the dart would have agitated him. He may have gone into a frenzy and took his aggression out on the kid before finally succumbing to the effects of the tranquilizer.
Westside Steve
Male gorillas don't protect. Get the fuck outta here with that stupid shit.Looks like you missed the joke. The Cysko Kid
Not every kid that runs into the street and gets hit, or is abducted and murdered, or drowns. Or falls off a swimsuit and breaks their neck is a result of shitty negligent patenting. People, especially people with no kids, don't seem to realize exactly how fast bad shit can happen. I'm not absolving the parents but accidents happen. Jack Hanna himself, who validated the decision to kill the ape, had a kid mailed at his private zoo from not having appropriate distance between his guests and wild animals. I'd like to say that if it were me and my four year old kid, who doesn't know shit about the world and doesn't understand the concept of death, slipped the first fence I'd have jumped it right after him and had him by the scruff of his neck like a beast but you probably don't understand how fast the little fuckers are. Take your eyes off him for five seconds to look at the zoo map or observe the majestic fuckin' gorilla in its habitat and boom it's done. Accidents happen and they happen quick. By the way the lowland gorilla is only critically endangered in the wild. In captivity their population is stable and in fact your money from zoo patronage is all that stands between them and Africans poaching them out of existence. So they made the right choice, to kill noble harambe. You can always breed another gorilla and no gorilla ever grew up to do more than pick it's ass and eat crap off the ground. I feel sorry that it happened, but they absolutely did the right thing.
Westside Steve
One more time you've missed the point. Yes they were forced to kill the animal yes a child's life is more important yes the gorilla probably would have killed him. But it's still any parents responsibility to supervise their fucking kid. Especially in a situation that poses some Danger. I don't think you let your kids play in the street or leave your handgun laying around. calfoxwc
A. I heard that they did use a tranquilizer, but it was taking way too long to work. B. Learned that a silverback is so powerful, they can easily crush open a coconut. C. There should have been a fence. A 3 yr old would never get through a fence.... unless the "parent" was holding the child up...and OVER the fence, and "dropped" him. I don't get it. D. A giant male silverback isn't in protecting mode, ? more like, interested in playing mode... or dominating mode. It's a sad situation that this is possible at all. The Cysko Kid
No I didn't miss the point at all and I don't absolve the parents. I, as a parent, feel the need to give some nuance to the people with no children that think that it's possible to control them utterly. I agree that ultimately the fault lies with the mother. Clevfan4life
The zoo is at fault period end of discussion. This wasnt divergent behavior for a 4 year old and frankly anybody can turn around for a split second and a child that age could be off on a carpet ride. How any enclosure at any zoo with any animal can be accessed so easily by a 4 year old is beyond me. The cincy zoo should have their gorillas taken from them. They put the child and the gorilla in that position.
