Since I am going on vacation in a couple of days, no Trivia this week or next. But here are some interesting factoids about pro football:

 

1. Of the Top Ten career rushing leaders, only Jim Brown, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders played with the same team their entire careers. Eric Dickerson played with 4 different teams: Rams/Colts/Falcons/Raiders.

 

2. Of the Top Ten passing yards leaders, only Dan Marino, John Elway and Tom Brady played for the same team their entire careers. Vinny Testaverde played for 7 different teams.

 

3. Of the Top Ten career reception leaders only Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne (both playing together for the Colts) and Jason Witten played for the same team their entire career. Terrell Owens played for 5 different teams.

 

4. Of the Top Ten leading scorers (they all being kickers) only Jason Hansen played for the same team his entire career (Lions). John Carney played for 7 teams.

 

5. Of the Top Ten leading Kickoff returners for TDs only Gale Sayers played for the same team his entire career. Michael Bates played for 6 teams.

 

6. Of the Top Ten players in career games played, only two were non kickers/punters: Jerry Rice 303 and Brett Favre 302. (though George Blanda played in 340 games....both at QB and kicker)

 

7. The Top 24 players in career fumbles were all Quarterbacks. But tied for 25th are Franco Harris and Tony Dorsett.

 

8. Of the Top Ten players in career Interceptions, only Ken Riley...Bengals, and Dick LeBeau..Lions played for the same team their entire career.

 

9. Of the Top Ten players in career sacks, only Michael Strahan, Giants, played his entire career with the same team.

 

10. Tom Bray needs 8 career 4th quarter comebacks to tie Peyton Manning for most all time.

 

11. Brett Favre 31, Dan Marino 28 and Peyton Manning 27 lead all QBs in throwing the most "Pick Sixes" (interceptions returned for a TD). Tom Brady has only thrown 12 in his career.

 

12. Josh McCown has the highest yards per game average in a season of all Browns QBs.

 

13. Joe Thomas is the NFL active leader in being named to the first team All Pro team.

 

14. Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson are the only active players who have ever won the AP NFL MVP award. All others are retired. (Manning had 5)

 

15. Jerry Rice scored 22 TDs in postseason play. The active leader is Larry Fitzgerald with 10.
