OldBrownsFan
“Retirement is not a biblical concept,” Barton said during an appearance Monday on Kenneth Copeland’s “Believer’s Voice of Victory” television program. Clevfan4life
Hey I'm still working, somebody has to pay for your food stamps. WSS please, you're the one drawing from me collecting your SS. And i've had enough...no more traveling musician bullshit, mickie D's bout to pay $15/hr so go get your app. lol. How about this tea party cocksucker though eh? I mean frankly you should never 100% retire..you should always have "something" going on that gets you up in the morning. But something tells me this cocksucker is talking about working full time in the traditional workforce literally till you drop dead. But as you can plainly see he's referencing y'all's homo bible. I've been saying for years that book is tripping, just learned a new way in which it trips.

OldBrownsFan
It's not really a bad idea to keep busy/occupied in your retirement years IMO. But that is your choice however you want to spend your retirement years. I think younger workers will get left holding the bag with paying in the most for retirement and getting the least back but ironically it is many of the younger people who support democrat policies and the out of control spending and waste that is bankrupting us and will be an albatross around their necks left for them. gftChris
To be fair, he talks about the people who retire and "do nothing" and you have to agree with that. I mean, the framing is questionable and the 'interviewer' is highly entertaining - looks like he's never had a thought someone else didn't give him - but the basic premise is what's been said, if you've got enough money that you don't need to earn any more, that's all dandy, but don't do nothing with your free time. I think this is being quite misinterpreted by Raw Story here (and big shock, it's Raw Story).
Westside Steve
+ privatization of Social Security I think would be a big step forward. You should be able to put together some hybrid system relying a lot on the public sector with a portion set aside for safety. As it is, it's a slush fund; it's raided by political parties no matter who's in office. And basically a Ponzi scheme that really does need to be revamped and retirement ages kicked down the road even more than now. On the other hand there's less and less need for human workers even if Grandpa did feel like working and more and more deadbeats on welfare so... gftChris
I don't think continuing work is the point though, it's continuing to be active - volunteering at your local church is probably what the guy has in mind, but really any kind of hobby that gets you up in the morning. Continuing to work is the point if Social Security is in question. No doubt finding something of use to do with your time is important. My career has been a little bit odd in that as an Entertainer I might only work a day or two a week when it's not summer time. On the good side that means I probably don't have to retire unless my voice gives out or people stop coming to see me. BUT that takes us into a completely different philosophical direction than working for compensation. WSS
gftChris
Well, given the ponzi-scheme aspect of the system as you said, and the decreasing birth rates in first world countries, it does mean we need more young people from other countries to prop it up. Westside Steve
I'm not, it's possible for a point to be relevant to more than one topic.Or not. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Sure expanding the workforce would mean greater tax revenue and more money into the Ponzi scheme.More illiterate manual laborers and refugees from third world violent shitholes would probably be counterproductive to that plan. But I'm all in favor of loosening restrictions on people from anywhere who have something to offer the economy. WSS

OldBrownsFan
Well deuteronomy says you're a feckless pagan scum. What do you think about that? Cleve with a 19 trillion dollar national debt I have some concerns this may affect my retirement so if you could just ask your employer if you can work some extra hours to help bring in some more tax revenue into the coffers that would be great. Maybe you can go in to work earlier or work later whatever is convenient. With more people out of the labor force than ever before under Obama we will need people like yourself to pick up the slack. Thanks in advance OBF. .

Tour2ma
Hey I'm still working, somebody has to pay for your food stamps. Tried them once... tasted awful... It's not really a bad idea to keep busy/occupied in your retirement years IMO. Absolutely great advice. "Use it or lose it." Applies to mind and body... Some would benefit, but most would not. Investing is simply too hard and for many SS recipients every potential dime they get is their only source of "safety". As "it is" is still a trust fund under the control of the SSA. The Trust invests only in US Federally issued securities, i.e., Bonds. So in part, actually in large part, the Trust's investments are part of "the debt". Depends on your definition of "welfare". In general the term has morphed from its original monthly check for living expenses to any assistance from food stamps to housing to Medicaid. Shift began after the Clinton-Gingrich Welfare reform agreement back in the 90's. The end result is that "Deadbeats" now includes working poor. I start collecting early Social Security in October. I plan on using it along with my other retirement to do whatever the fuck I want to do. Beat you by two months... and "ditto"... Well, yes actually.....but dont tell that to certain people its all they have https://youtu.be/seuCWDSi8WQ?t=1m1s
