That spy gave them our tactics yes but its not like all of a sudden they started making better subs. They're also reknowned to make better aircraft from an aerodynamic perspective, than the u.s. Ive always read that since i was a kid. But we have much better avionics systems. Theres just some things the soviets are real good at and always have been....no big deal.
