bbedward
And I will say Pence winning wasn't even close. Kaine looked like an unlikable douche, he repeated fixed memorized talking points in places they didn't even fit. Sad!

calfoxwc
weird - the "moderator" kept cutting Pence off, letting Kaine have his "two minutes".... and never once interrupted Kaine to let Pence talk. Kaine came across like a patient in "Two Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" Pence kept his cool, though Kaine, and the mod kept interrupting Pence just as he was making a solid point. Pitiful. Westside Steve
Now we care about the interruptions haha Actually during Trump Hillary Donald Trump was interrupted Much More Often by the moderator but nobody mentioned that. He also only interrupted Hillary a small number of times nothing like Kreepy Kaine. I give Kaine credit for having a canned response for every question (that's what every candidate should do) he just doesn't deliver them very well. bbedward
Trump didn't interrupt as much he just said "wrong" in the mic. Kaine literally wouldn't let Pence talk.
OldBrownsFan
Pence did his homework before the debate with debate preparation. He held mock debates with Gov. Scott Walker playing the part of Kaine. Although the lib talking point today is that Pence did not defend Trump the fact is Pence dominated this debate by not playing defense. The dems would have loved for 75-80 minutes of the debate being taken up by Pence on the defense and not bringing up the many scandals of Clinton. You win debates on offense not playing defense. Let's hope Trump does the same debate prep as Pence this time instead of just winging it like the last debate. Trump spent way too much time defending himself without attacking Clinton in the last debate. Clinton did debate prep with mock debates and it showed. Trump will have his next debate with her in 5 days and I hope he gets off twitter long enough to prepare for this debate.

LogicIsForSquares
I don't think the VP debate has any bearing on this election. Both of the prez candidates are so polarizing that who their VPs are mean jack shit. The Hillary voters should be concerned due to Hilldawg being the walking dead (the same knock on McCain from the left for those keeping count) but her voters just really hate Trump. Or maybe they could look at it as half full. They vote in the first woman president and then if she kicks the bucket we will have our first gay president. I think it will have a little bit of an effect. Kaine was whiny and unlikable, so now people know there's 2 unlikable people on the D-ticket. Pence looked stable and represented the republican platform well, could help sure up the republican voters that don't like Trump. Sunday's debate is much more important though
One Post
Trump campaign wants to win the election by winning the people over from the Clinton campaign tearing him down making him look like a racists pig, womanizer, sexists, white rich guy. OldBrownsFan
Vice presidential candidate debates usually don't mean all that much but this year may be a little different given both presidential candidates age and health issues voters may look closer at their possible replacements. StinkHole
Stuart Hope Trump learns something from Pence. Doubt it. If Trump was half as articulate and witty as someone like Newt Gingrich, he'd destroy Hillary. It's a fuckin shame with these Republicans, election after election a chance to bury the democrat assholes and they blow it.
Dste Ace
This year the presidency was there for the taking for the Republicans. I actually thought Trump was doing pretty well for the first 30-45 minutes of the first debate. But then Hillary started pushing his buttons and you could see him start to come apart. Fascinating, really, that a 70 year old man literally can't control himself. He can't not respond/react to the smallest of perceived slights. I was talking with my history professor from college. He is a political junkie and he described Trump as "George Wallace with a New York accent."

He is a political junkie and he described Trump as "George Wallace with a New York accent." The left tries to paint Trump as a racist. I have seen no evidence of it. George Wallace was a racist. There were lots of real instances to show it with his actions. But I think you are right about his lack of control (discipline). He just needs to act presidential and he doesn't listen and does 3AM silly tweets against the former Miss Universe. People like Newt Gingrich keep advising him he will lose the election by getting off message and into the weeds on these things that few people care about but he continues to do it anyway. Frustrating.
Canton Dawg
Pence came off as being polished & presidential, but I attribute that to his previous position as a radio host. On the other hand, Kaine seemed like he was uncomfortable trying to land a spot on his high school debate team. Pence owned him last night. There were lots of real instances to show it with his actions. He wasn't referring to Trump as a racist, but, like Wallace (and Carter and Reagan, for that matter) as a populist. The champion of the ordinary man. And let's face it, when it comes to sheer bombast, Trump is much more like Wallace than he is either Carter or Reagan.
