gftChris
Seems like they just up and decided to stop serving them as customers, along with the rest of the RBS group. I can't find anything that says the government is explicitly involved, but the clowns we have in charge now have decided that a slim brexit majority equates to licence to govern like it's 1953, so who knows. bbedward
RT is funded by the Russian government, which makes this all the more concerning.
bbedward
Apparently the UK government owns 73% of RBS - hard to imagine this isn't politically motivated. Not sure why a bank would just say take your money elsewhere.
Clevfan4life
Ofc its political. Obama was just in london talking over things with boris about how to punish russia for wut theyre doing in alleppo. Two days later this happens, pretty straight forward

gftChris
Yep, the government had to bail them out in 2008, and basically said "well fuck that, we'll just buy you" - a very non-conservative move to essentially (re)nationalise a bank like that. But it worked, they turned it around, and are now slowly selling it off in chunks back to the market and pocketing the profit for the country. A good move, to be fair. Anyway, yes, there can be no reason other than a political one for this kind of shit.
