Just another fake news lie by liberals - Trump won't be killing meals on wheels

Recommended Posts

Today, social media was abuzz with the terrible, awful, no-good news that Donald Trump was going to abandon the elderly and leave them to starve to death.

Of course, reality is ready to swoop in and set the story straight.

Facebook and Twitter have once again proven to be the breeding grounds of the liberal fake news conspiracy to turn President Trump into some sort of fascist dictator, being pupated by the Russians, and now he’s out to let your dear old grandmother waste away in the throes of hunger.

Unfortunately, if you’re one of the millions of Americans who woke up to the news that Donald Trump was going to abolish the Meals on Wheels programs via internet memes, you’ve been duped by fake news.

“…with the presentation of his proposed budget, Democrats and the media finally pounced: Trump wants to kill old people by cutting funding to Meals on Wheels!

“So, is Trump actually killing Meals on Wheels?

“Not even close.

“The Trump administration proposed budget would kill the Community Development Block Grant, a federal boondoggle that’s largely been used for waste and fraud. It costs $3 billion per year. As the budget proposal stated, ‘The Federal Government has spent over $150 billion on this block grant since its inception in 1974, but the program is not well-targeted to the poorest populations and has not demonstrated results.’

“Meals on Wheels does get some money from the CDGB. But the vast majority of its funding comes from elsewhere, and as even the leftists over at Snopes state, ‘the effect of CDBG cuts on local Meals on Wheels groups is uncertain.’ Only 3 percent of the Meals on Wheels budget nationally comes from the federal government at all, and only a portion of that comes from the CDBG.”

While the left continues their lame attempts to derail factual information from going viral via their censorship of social media, this information is plainly available to those willing to forego the drama and sensationalism of words on the internet and actually research what they’re propagating.

No, Donald Trump is not trying to kill your elderly relatives. Maybe it’s time for Facebook to break out their new “disputed” tag for this story.
