No. 1 Alabama will play at No. 18 Mississippi State, No. 2 Georgia will travel to No. 10 Auburn, while No. 3 Notre Dame is set to matchup with No. 7 Miami. No. 8 TCU, No. 12 Oklahoma State and No. 25 Iowa will also take on top-25 opponents on the road. Alabama (9-0) Alabama advanced with a 24-10 victory against rival LSU, and that's Stage 1 in a month that also features Mississippi State and Auburn in SEC West play. The Tide might bump up to the No. 1 spot on Tuesday for drama purposes, or the committee could leave Georgia in the top spot. Either way, Nick Saban has enough to keep this team motivated. He always does. 2. Georgia (9-0) The Bulldogs clinched the SEC East on Saturday with two conference games left, which is both impressive and an indictment on the competition within the division. Jake Fromm had an impressive and efficient performance against South Carolina in the 24-10 victory. Now, a test against two-loss Auburn awaits. 3. Notre Dame (8-1) Brandon Wimbush totaled 280 passing yards, 110 rushing yards and three total touchdowns in a 48-37 shootout with Wake Forest, and the Irish's playoff push remains clear. Now, they'll get a top-10 showdown with Miami on the road in a game that will evoke memories of the legendary past showdowns with the Hurricanes. Brian Kelly has Notre Dame in great position. 4. Clemson (8-1) The Tigers won another critical ACC Atlantic game at N.C. State, and they can wrap up a trip to Charlotte for the conference championship game with a victory against Florida State. The defending national champions are in the hunt, and Dabo Swinney still knows how to close games. That happened against the Wolfpack. MORE: OK Miami: We see 'U' The field ACC Unbeatens: Miami One-loss teams: Clemson Contenders: Miami proved its worth with a 28-10 victory against Virginia Tech, which sets up an electric showdown with Notre Dame in Week 11. That also puts the Hurricanes on a crash course with Clemson for the ACC championship. The Tigers can clinch their spot with a win against Florida State next week. Big Ten Unbeatens: Wisconsin One-loss teams: None Contenders: Penn State losing 27-24 to Michigan State is a little surprising. Ohio State's 55-24 loss at Iowa is a shocker. The Big Ten East has four two-loss teams when you factor in Michigan. All of those teams face long odds to get back in the College Football Playoff for different reasons. The Badgers remained undefeated, and they likely will slide up into either the No. 6 or No. 7 spot ahead of the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions. Is Wisconsin the Big Ten's last hope? MORE: How will Urban Meyer, Buckeyes react to loss? Big 12 Unbeatens: None One-loss teams: Oklahoma, TCU Contenders: Oklahoma knocked off Oklahoma 62-52 in a Bedlam game that lived up to the billing. The one-loss Sooners likely will be in the No. 5 spot on Tuesday, and that's a good spot, as long as they take care of business against TCU on Saturday. That's another top-10 game for the conference, and there won't be another one this regular season. The winner must take advantage. Pac-12 Unbeatens: None One-loss teams: Washington Contenders: Washington State knocked Stanford off the two-loss line on Saturday, and that's preserving some of the hype around the Apple Cup showdown against the Huskies. USC took control of the Pac-12 South with a convincing victory against Arizona. The Pac-12 still faces long odds, but the chaos in the Big Ten didn't hurt Washington at all. MORE: Alabama got hit with 'hard,' and 'hard' will keep coming SEC Unbeatens: Alabama, Georgia One-loss teams: None Contenders: Auburn and Mississippi State are the last two-loss spoilers in the conference, and both come into focus this week. The Bulldogs get a swing at Alabama in Starkville, and the Tigers will take their chances with Georgia in Athens. The blockbuster undefeated matchup between Alabama and Georgia — regardless of order — remains on schedule. Group of 5 Contenders: UCF remains the only unbeaten team in the Group of 5, and the best thing the Knights can do is to continue to win and root for implosions like the Big Ten endured on Saturday. With updated Playoff committee rankings, three games between top-10 teams, and four others between ranked teams, we’ve got a big shakeup coming. Below, let’s keep track of Week 11’s ranked games from the Playoff committee’s perspective, which means it’s not only about who you beat, but how it relates to the full picture. Win projections are via S&P+. Important! Games between teams likely to finish in the committee’s final top 25, regardless of Week 11 result, meaning the winner gains a major quality W. No. 1 Georgia (9-0) at No. 10 Auburn (7-2): Either the Dawgs take a big step toward clinching a Playoff bid regardless of SEC Championship result (likely still need some help with a loss, of course), or the Tigers throw some drama into the entire SEC picture and complete one step of their nearly impossible two-loss CFP bid. No. 2 Alabama (9-0) at No. 16 Mississippi State (7-2): A road win over a 9-3 MSU could end up being Bama’s best win of the regular season (if Auburn loses a couple games badly). Zero people on planet earth saw this coming, back in July. No. 3 Notre Dame (8-1) at No. 7 Miami (8-0): The Irish have been in elimination mode since Week 2. A win would give them a 4-1 record against teams that entered Week 11 ranked, a very Playoff-worthy total. The Canes can silence all concerns about their many close wins and hurt UGA’s resume (in case it comes down to Mark Richt vs. Kirby Smart for No. 4), potentially killing two birds. No. 6 TCU (8-1) at No. 5 Oklahoma (8-1): Big 12 title game, Round 1? The winner’s in excellent shape, until it maybe has to play the loser again, though that’s a whole other Big 12 race. No. 20 Iowa (6-3) at No. 8 Wisconsin (9-0): UW’s quietly improving schedule can add some real substance by overcoming injury issues to beat the team that just obliterated Ohio State. Otherwise, the Big Ten’s probably out of the Playoff. No. 12 Michigan State (7-2) at No. 13 Ohio State (7-2): Big Ten East title game, almost certainly. With a lot of chaos, the winner might end up with a Playoff case, but we’ll see. No. 15 Oklahoma State (7-2) at No. 21 Iowa State (6-3): The winner adds a solid W and remains in striking range of the Big 12 Championship. ISU has a tiebreaker over the TCU-Oklahoma loser (lmao), while OSU has lost to both those teams. Should have some impact Games between teams likely to finish .500-plus, regardless of Week 11 result, meaning the winner gains a solid W. Florida State (3-5) at No. 4 Clemson (8-1): Bizarre, but true! Now that FSU’s rescheduled its game against ULM, the Noles are back on pace to count as a .500 win. No. 9 Washington (8-1) at Stanford (6-3): The game that months ago looked like the Pac-12’s game of the year was mostly ruined by Stanford’s slow start. Still a nice road win available. No. 19 Washington State (8-2) at Utah (5-4) No. 23 NC State (6-3) at Boston College (5-4) The non-power New Year’s Six race The top mid-major champ earns an automatic NY6 bowl bid. A Playoff trip from this group seems impossible. UConn (3-6) at No. 18 UCF (8-0): The beloved Civil ConFLiCT is likely unimportant, beyond ancient rivalry passion. UCF is underrated. Boise State (7-2) at Colorado State (6-4): Boise has a chance to close out with wins over four bowl teams, adding to the three (and maybe more) it has so far. Only losses: to No. 19 Washington State in 3OT on the road and to surprise bowl team Virginia. A win here nearly clinches the division. Ohio (8-2) 38, Toledo (8-2) 10: The MAC’s out, and one of Miami’s best wins takes a big hit. No. 22 Memphis: Off. Root for everyone on your schedule. Even if you’d rather face USF than UCF in the AAC title game, you want the East champ looking as strong as possible. USF: Off. Root for archrival UCF, quietly. USF knocking the Knights and, say, Memphis out of the top 20 would likely mean New Year’s. San Diego State: Off. Stanford beating Washington would be big. Arizona State beating UCLA would both boost SDSU’s schedule and ding one of Memphis’ best wins. You also need Fresno State to lose twice. Probably unimportant These underdogs don’t project to finish .500, unless they score upsets here. At that point, we’ve got importance!
