Orion Posted January 9, 2018 Report Posted January 9, 2018 Duke was our leading receiver. He had more catches than our #2 & #3 leading receivers combined....and THEY were both TE's. And #4 was ANOTHER RB. - The guy we drafted instead of Wentz had 23 catches. Nero Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 Looking at the stats, that's why I liked Duke all year. He's one of the few playmakers we have. Looking at YDS/REC, Gordon shows why he's that good. I've looked some stats by top NFL WR and they post more than 13 YDS/REC, but I haven't seen anyone going over 18. Only receiver we have with a similar stat? Treggs. What about him? I don't remember him playing many snaps, am I wrong? Also his longest is 20yds, so it's not like he did a huge 60 play and sucked for the rest of his receptions. The only receiver I remember blatantly dropping the ball several times is Coleman, but I know there are more drops on their account (Britt, I look at you). Njoku put some good numbers considering the problems Kizer had throwing to the middle, and he has the most TDs. Can't wait to see how he develops.
Orion Posted January 10, 2018 Author Report Posted January 10, 2018 I don't think Treggs finished the season on the roster. Yes, Gordon is known for yards per reception...and Coleman is known for drops (from college days). In general our WR's put up miserable numbers. Yes, we had a rookie QB but they pretty much mimicked their 2016 season. The Duke is a talent but you can't count on him as a WR. These stats are indicative of our record. It's a passing league and we don't get the ball to our WR's. (can't get the ball to them)
Tour2ma Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 One stat missing from the summary is "Targets" or alternately "Catch Percentage". The latter for Treggs was a team low 27.8%. For reference the next lowest was Coleman at 39.7%. Excepting a couple players with single digit Targets, Duke led the team with 79.6%. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/cle/2017.htm
