Chicopee John
This is for terrorists basically.... but I'm sure it will be abused like everything else. I am no legal expert but don't we already have 'Conspiracy' to commit a crime on the books? How would this differ? I don't know the details but it sounds too Orwellian for my comfort. Chicopee John
Does anybody believe that foreign terrorists should be afforded the same rights as American citizens? Of course not. I also don't believe illegal aliens should have the same protections as US citizens but I hear more and more about it each day. If it is not illegal search and seizure, it is Miranda-related. Sickening. IMHO
Mr. T
Terrorists' 'Right to Remain Silent?' With moves like this I dont think that the administration is wanting to use this proposed law on future would be terrorists. The move is reportedly creating chaos in the field among the CIA, FBI and military personnel

People are people and should be treated equally no matter which side of some imaginary line WE drew they were born on. I am not talking about any testosterone-driven, macho attack on folks. On the other hand, two illegals in MA or CT recently had deportation activities halted because a judge ruled that their 'residence' was entered illegaly. The minutaie, mz the pussy, is that they are criminals by definition. Whether they are violent or not isn't the issue. Of course, if they ARE violent, the stakes get raised quite a bit. We are talking about laws, not sweeping citizens of the world pablum.

"Criminals by definition" doesn't seem to take common decency into account, at all. People are people.

Mr. T
Obama proposes Indefinite Preventive Detention without trial Obama is proposing we keep people locked up not for the crimes they have committed and we prove they committed in a court of law, but on the chance that they might commit crimes in the future. There will be no trial, for no crime exists to be charged. There is only the nebulous threat of "future acts" to justify depriving people of their liberty potentially indefinitely. Is this justice? http://open.salon.com/blog/behind_blue_eye...n_without_trial A socialists dream come true if it happens and all the soccer moms will applaud Obama for protecting them and their kiddies.
