"His 2018 return reveals that he and his wife, Jane, earned more than $550,000, including $133,000 in income from his Senate salary and $391,000 in sales of his book, "Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In.""

u do realize there are CEO's of companies who ran said company directly into the shitter and got paid 56x on one swoop than bernie makes in a couple years. Nice try painting him as those top guys that dont think laws apply to them.

laughsble, especially considering it was his book that pushed him to $1m a few years back. I know men in akron that "play" with his salary on the stock market on a weekly basis.

Bernie rails against the 1% and that would be a family making over 441k.

I struggle to take rich socialists seriously. They never ever voluntarily give their money to the government while claiming that rich people don’t pay enough in taxes. Be the example.

Frankly I'd be more worried about a virtual pauper in public office with the ability to become a multi-millionaire than I am a guy like Donald Trump John Kerry or Mitt Romney who have lived with the fuck you money their entire lives. People who like Obama are probably a lot more susceptible to fame and riches than people who have always had it.

While you're so full of shit it must be leaking out of your ears; you're right that this is a pretty modest salary for someone so well known. I would suppose that most national news anchors, regardless of what political bent they have, make more than that per year.

Bernie Sanders' plans will cost $20G per taxpayer, blow hole in budget, nonpartisan group's president says

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bernie-sanders-plan-cost-trillions

“I don't know whether they plan to finance all of that or add that to the very large national debt, but the costs are certainly high. I know trillion is kind of hard to get your arms around. But when you bring it down per taxpayer, we are talking more than $20,000 increase in taxes.”

— Maya MacGuineas, the president of Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget

Sure sounds cost efficient...

The fact is Bernie Sanders like most liberals is generous with tax payer money and not so much with his own. That gets proved out time and time again with liberals and Bernie Sanders is no exception. There is nothing right now to prevent him from paying higher taxes with the IRS. They even have it on the tax form if someone wants to increase their taxes. Sanders should be leading the way here but he isn't. That is all you need to know about Bernie.

and he would have paid 30% on his $566k but got a deduction based on ~20k of charitabke donations. I see nothing "unfair" about this and nothing that outright contradicts his point that the super rich dont pay enough in taxes.

Sanders if he didn't feel he was paying his fair share of taxes could have always paid more to the IRS and he didn't. He may have voted against the Trump tax bill but he benefited from it . Shouldn't a leader...lead by example?

On Sanders 1040 it shows he and his wife earned $156,000, mostly his salary as a sitting US Senator, and also that both he and his wife are collecting social security.   The total social security income is $46,213 and since the maximum benefit provided to one person is approx $31,000, this means they are both collecting.   Social security is of course one of Senator Sanders key issues.  Perhaps there is a logical explanation, whatever it is, more disclosure is clearly needed.
