Colorado Students Walk Out Of School Shooting Vigil After It Turns Political

Colorado students walked out of an event billed as a vigil for Kendrick Castillo, an 18-year-old killed in a shooting at his school on Tuesday, when prominent speakers attempted to turn it into a rally for gun control. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colorado) and Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colorado) each took a turn calling for gun control at the Douglas County event before students streamed out in protest.

"Following a terrible school shooting in Parkland, Florida, last year, CNN hosted an anti-gun rally that whitewashed Sheriff Scott Israel’s fatal errors, blamed Second Amendment supporter Dana Loesch as a culprit, allowed Sen. Marco Rubio to be equated to the school shooter, and lifted up Democratic politicians such as Ted Deutsch as heroes."

yeah - democrat socialists wanting power and wealth by any lies, innuendo and subvertive means necessary. Not "politicians".

that was democrat scumbucket move they did. and they thought the students would be young enough and ignorant enough

to buy into it.

WRONG.

There is plenty of hope for us yet.

nobody is ignoring "home grown murder". But it is a valid point - that murders by illegals won't happen if we keep the illegals OUT OF OUR COUNTRY - and it IS the democrat marxist cloward-piven sombeitches that demand the murders by illegals be tolerated.

And in the mind of dems, those school shootings wouldn’t happen if guns were banned. You know my take on that but I just get disgusted anytime the dead are used as political props.

it isn't the same. I said illegal murders would not happen here, if we kept the illegals OUT of OUR COUNTRY.

The idea that banning guns will keep school shootings from happening is bogus - criminals will always have a black market supplying guns.

They are criminals. "hello-o-o-o-o?"

Real Americans will be the only folks who won't be having any. That is just plain fact. But you know that, you wildman... lol

Two vastly different situations.  What do you think Republicans should be doing or saying about homegrown murder?  Give us your ideas.

I think they are both equally bad but one is politically charged and the other is not. Regular old local murder doesn’t get the base wound tight.

School shootings aren't "regular old local murder" every one makes screaming headlines for weeks.

Regular old murder is kashaun and uncle junebug getting shot down over on e.79th and no politician, black or white, Democrat or Republican gives a fuck about that.

When I was growing up I never heard or even thought about a school shooting yet guns were just as equally available.  I heard others say in the time period I went to school they even brought their rifles to school so after school they could go hunting yet there was never a problem with school shootings. What has changed? That needs to be investigated. Why has society gotten so violent today? It can't be the guns are the problem  because we had them years ago before there were school shootings.

No one gets a pass. We elect total shit heels that make it a lifetime career of winding up the constituents.

Except that democrats are the greater of the two evils. Much greater.

Name the last Republican politician to make news for either being extremely stupid, a racist, anti-Semite, or a rapist... ( and don't any of you smartasses say Trump)

Or if you can name the  Republican counterparts to an AOC, Pochohontas, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Shiela Jackson Lee, Omar, Pelosi or that dork who cant keep his hands to himself Uncle Joe.

Also comparing the highly qualified Republican presidential candidates in the last election to the current slate of rubbish the democrats are putting up for 2020 should tell you a lot.

That pretty much nails it for me. The republicans are not saints either but when you weigh out the pros and cons about both parties and what they stand for it is not even close that the republicans are far and away the better party.

It's no use Logic. Sane people know both sides do the same thing. But for anyone who has their head up the ass of one party (like many here... Or at least a few and their alts), they'll never realize that.

It seems you are among the head / ass contingent and it doesn't seem like you actually read what he said. Just the knee-jerk well everybody does it response.

And I would be extremely surprised if you were actually in lockstep with logic's take on gun control.

In my opinion it's at least partially the explosion of social media and 24/7 television news coverage. Hell in the old west Outlaws used to love to see wanted posters with their faces on them. Everybody wants to be a star and everybody wants to have their face on television or all over the internet. If you are a sick individual oh, regardless of the type of sickness, you are a nationwide icon for a while and people with little or nothing else going on in their miserable sick lives can now become household names.

I think that is very plausible. I have seen in many of these shootings where the shooter is looking for notoriety. Maybe the best thing we could do is not give it to them but that would take a concerted effort by all media to not mention by name or photos any of these sick monsters to try to take away the notoriety they seek.

This is really where the questions should be. Guns have been prevalent for the longest time. You had an extreme outlier in what happened at U of Texas but for the most part you had nothing until Columbine. A non-expert flinging shit at a wall opinion inbound: I really think we are losing our connection to our communities and other people. You used to know who was a loon in your neighborhood. You also used to be on friendly terms for the most part with people in your neighborhood enough to have a cookout. It makes it a bit harder to go undetected or dehumanize others if you had some relationship with the people around you. Again, I am no expert.

Anecdotally, I have elderly neighbors that I help out. If I didn't, I don't know if my other neighbors would even know who they are. I imagine that is a pretty common thing these days. It is not a good direction to be steering towards.

I think a lot has to do with Parenting (both parents working) or lack of, participation trophies, no spanking or discipline of any kind.  Telling 5 year olds there are 500 different genders you choose which you want to be kids get so confused they need more guidance by parents.
