See the video I posted. Glad to hear the Cleveland sports system are not issuing participation trophies but across the country they are and they are more common than you think.

You can't quote an opinionated blogger as evidence to support your argument. I am smart enough to know that but apparently you're not.

The Greatest War Movies of All Time

mensjournal.com — The critical acclaim and box office success that accompanied the release of American Sniper, as well as the other impressive war films out in 2014, including Fury, Unbroken, and even The Imitation Game immediately begs the question of where these all fit into the unofficial pantheon of the greatest war movies ever — which of course prompts the question of which, exactly, are the best war movies ever.

How People in Happy Relationships Talk About Money

fatherly.com — Honesty and intimacy are well understood as bedrocks of a healthy relationship. But without complete transparency around finances, they may not be possible. That’s because beneath the surface of every financial conversation a couple has are the major factors underpinning any relationship: power, intimacy, and trust.

Joint Custody Isn't the Norm. But It's Become More of an Option

fatherly.com — For most of the 20th century, dads who wanted to share custody of their children after a divorce were out of luck. Courts sided almost universally with the mothers, awarding them full custody. That’s not the case today. In the last 30 years, courts have increasingly encouraged — and even pushed — for mutual agreements of shared parental custody.

What the Chris Watts Case Tells Us About Why Men Kill Their Families

fatherly.com — This past November, Christopher Watts, a 33-year-old man from Colorado, pled guilty to the murders of his pregnant wife and their two young daughters. Watts, who in February was sentenced to three life sentences, first denied the allegations and made an emotional plea to find the perpetrators. As investigators noticed discrepancies in Watts’ story and pressed harder, he confessed to the acts and to burying their bodies in the oil fields where he worked.

This Is How Much It Costs to Have an Affair

fatherly.com — There’s nothing simple about an extramarital affair: the relationship dynamics, the emotions, the logistics, the potentially explosive fallout. But it’s not just messy — it’s also costly. “It’s very expensive,” says Dr. Ramani Durvasala, a Los Angeles-based clinical psychologist who has worked with many spouses on both sides of an affair.

The 11 Best Toy Robots That Teach Kids Coding And STEM Skills

yahoo.com — As you know from decades of watching sci-fi movies, robots come in two metallic flavors: Helpful manservants that speak with an affected British accent or psychotic murder machines sent back from the future to kill John Conner. But there are booming new categories that are going to benefit your child: educational robots for kids, robot toys for kids, and coding robots that can teach them everything from ping-pong to social skills.

Elizabeth Warren's Two-Income Trap, Explained

fatherly.com — If you and your spouse both work, and if you aren’t reading this on your personal catamaran or in your swank Manhattan penthouse, then, chances are, you probably understand the concept of the two-income trap. And you might hear more about it in the coming months, because the person who coined the phrase is Democratic presidential candidate and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren — and she’ll almost certainly be talking about it.

Not Sure If You Want Kids? This Therapist Can Help You Decide

fatherly.com — Not all of us enter adulthood knowing innately that we want to have children. Many people struggle to acknowledge to themselves — let alone others — their uncertainty about what is often assumed to be the most logical step of adulthood. How do you know if you really want to be a father? Ann Davidman has worked for 30 years to change that.

Advice For Introverts On Handling Small Talk and Conversations

fatherly.com — There you are, picking up your kid from preschool one afternoon when you walk around a corner and — boom! — you’re suddenly walking in-step with a parent whose name you may or may not have forgotten. Now let’s assume that you aren’t, like, a huge fan of talking to people, especially those you don’t know already. Maybe you classify yourself as an introvert. Or maybe you’ve just been doing the whole work-kids-work-sleep-repeat thing for so long that your adult social interactions are rusty.

The 25 Best Independent Toy Stores In America

fatherly.com — Independent toy stores are the kinds of places you get sucked into off the street. You’re on the way to someplace else, with kids or without, step in, and you emerge an hour later in a happy daze, whether you bought something or not. They are the kinds of places people seek out for an afternoon of fun, for toys you can’t find in a big-box retailer, or for the expertise of sales people who know a ridiculous amount about toys, and games, and which building blocks will be perfect for your kid.

These Popular Halloween Costumes Are Offensive

fatherly.com — There are two surefire ways to choose a Halloween costume for your child that is offensive or inappropriate. The first is to choose a costume that crosses the line between dress-up and cultural appropriation. The second is to pick a costume that sexualizes your child. This seems like common sense, but sometimes things can get a little murky. Here, by way of example, we dive into six specific costumes that you may do well to avoid buying or making for your child.

Best Incredibles Costumes for the Whole Family

fatherly.com — The much-anticipated arrival of Incredibles 2 has returned the animated superhero movie to the front of the line for kids’ and tweens’ obsessions, so there will be a lot of Halloween Incredibles costumes this year. But which are the best Incredibles costumes? Most family members will want to go as the beloved characters of the titular family. But don’t dismiss the villains and minor characters outright — there’s not a character on this cast that’s not worthy of mimicry this Halloween.

The Best Pirate Costumes for Kids

fatherly.com — Ah, pirates, those murdering, torturing, pillaging scamps. The golden age of piracy lasted only about 25 years in the Americas, but their legacy has been seared — and a bit defanged — into our collective cultural memory. Kids have long love to pretend to be pirates, and that’s never more true during Halloween, when neighborhood streets are filled with adorable, would-be maritime marauders. But which pirate should your child dress up as, and which one is the best?

The Absolute Best Dinosaur Games for Kids

fatherly.com — It’s one of the unexpected joys of parenting to be thrust into your child’s obsession with a group of animals that were wiped off the face of the earth millions of years ago, and to treat their present-day importance as all-consuming. For whatever reason, it’s not ammonites or giant camels they love — it’s dinosaurs. Thanks to the universal obsession, toy makers have created countless games that revolve around the creatures of the Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Mesozoic periods.

Baby Names: 7 (Very Real) Fights You'll Have When Naming Your Child

fatherly.com — The nine-month run up to having a baby is a heady cocktail of joy, logistics, and abject terror. It’s also an opportunity for conflict. That can be for any number of reasons, but chief among them is often the name selection process. Choosing the name your baby will have for, ideally, 80-ish years is hard – and you and your spouse may not see eye to eye on the sea of options you have.

Where Kids Can See Dinosaur Bones and Dino Museums Around the U.S.

fatherly.com — There’s a very good chance that, if you have kids, you will be sucked into the whirling vortex of dinosaurs. It starts, often, when they’re toddlers; before you know it, you’re packing the car for a road trip to the nearest (which may not actually be near) active dig site or natural history museum in hopes that your kids will get a look at real, formerly live dinosaur bones – and, if not, then at an actual, breathing paleontologist.

5 Fun Games to Keep Kids Occupied While You Grocery Shop

fatherly.com — Grocery shopping with small children can stress-test a few things: your parenting skills, your child’s self-control, the shatter-resistance of a pickle jar. Still, taking kids to the grocery store is an unfortunate necessity in a world where one must eat and/or feed a family. No matter how hard you try to plan your shopping around daycare, babysitting, etc.

From movies to dinosaur museums to best pirate costumes. Yeah he's a hired blogger. And his article about the participation trophies was his pure opinion about the concept of them. He, nor you...have given a single shred of info about where this takes place and what kind of leagues. The only leagues that I've heard of that do this to any great extent were for disabled kids or those intramural type leagues where only sackless fags like yourself would get worked up over. The actual competitive leagues in HS do not do this. My nephew has played hockey and baseball in LIBERAL cities and this has not happened. So do urself a favor and go get a script for testosterone from your Dr because you are one sad bitch of an old man. Like Lindsey Graham breathlessly sackless.

This is only a big deal for sackless little boy pussy's.

How prevalent is the idea of participation trophies? I really don't know except in this video it appears to be more widespread than you are giving it credit...

one of my best friends is a libertarian out west...he lives just outside SF with his family and he's tge dean of a catholic HS. His kids play football and baseball all over the bsy area....he too has cracked jokes about those trophies but he admitted he never saw it. In one of the most liberal areas in the country.

im sorry but ur all just going to have to accept what easily hooked and baited little boy pussys u are. The first step is acknowledging that ur little sissy boys who get doggy walked by the narratives of media entities who have an ulterior motive in forming ur thought process's.

cause i gotta tell ya guys.....even if this stuff was widespread, real men just simply dont care if there are people who want to encourage their sedintary video game playing kids to go out and run outside in something mildly competitive that doesnt involve a tv and a controller. There will akways be sports leagues for serious kids that want to develop serious skillsets to perhaps play pro one day. And there will be the kid versions of "beer league". It doesnt matter....just stfu u sackless little ninnys and let people be. I cant put it any clearer. If james harrison had his kids in a competotive league and it handed out participation trophies...then fine i completely understand where he's coming from. But theres millions of parents with kids who have no i tention of playing a sport competitively even at the HS level. Its just not s big deal except to u gelded old fuckpigs who love to dry ur pussys out over the most insignificant of matters.

theres an order of magnitude more important shit going on then getting ur pussys hammered out over stupid fucking trophies.

Kinda like the liberal media pushing the phony Trump Russia collusion narrative for over two years that liberals ate up with a spoon... maybe you are finally getting it...

Sure there are more important subjects in the world but this is a message board to cover a variety of issues and it is not a bad point to make to the young that not everyone gets a trophy in life.

"These kids are staring at lifetimes of debt i think they get it".....

I don't think by and large they do get it and I am sure you don't.  The deficit grew larger under Obama than any other president. It is primarily those of us on the right who have been giving out the message that this debt is an albatross around our children's neck. Admittedly both parties are too blame. The dems almost never speak about curbing the debt and support every new spending program under the sun  while the republicans speak loudly about the debt when out of power but when in power they don't do much about the debt either.

*** Tax payers will be burdened to pay for the open southern border the dems won't lift a finger to help fix.

Any "blog" or opinion piece that was posted was not used to support an argument dummy.  I am not interested in whether or not the writers views support mine.

Well lookie here, something that you will really like because its an opposing view! An opposing view by Kobe Bryant on why participation trophies are OK... and he ain't talking about no Retarded kids.
