"Still, there are some warning signs for the president. Only 37 percent of voters said they would definitely or probably vote for Trump in the 2020 presidential election, compared to 42 percent who said they would definitely or probably vote for the Democratic nominee. Twelve percent of voters are unsure, and 9 percent said they’d vote for an independent or third-party candidate."
OldBrownsFan
I hope it is a good indication but really I think we are too far out right now from the election. I remember when Bush Sr. had sky high approval numbers after the gulf war yet he lost about a year and a half later to Clinton.

So 79% is the base and are going to or probably vote for their party. 9% will throw their vote away on some clown, hopefully a hard left wing candidate, so you have the 12% who are unsure. Seems about right. WSS

Democrats made a bargain with Bush Senior if he would raise taxes a little they would cut spending a little. He took the bait and the rest is history. that and ross perot. and if the clinton guy who said its the economy stoopid, then Trump has it all locked up barring a fall in the forecast? no doubt the Democrats will do anything they can to sour the economy before 2020. What I remember were the dems praising and applauding Bush for being so courageous to raise taxes and then watching them turn on Bush for breaking his pledge not to raise taxes a little later when he was running for re-election. Perot did play the spoiler that year too. Hard to believe but I have no doubt there are some on the left who hate Trump so much they wouldn't mind seeing our economy crash if it kept him from being re-elected.
