A serious important history lesson

and, may I add, back in the day, the left was "terrified" of a police state because they couldn't get pot legalized.

Now? The left WANTS TO BE in CHARGE OF A POLICE STATE - because they figure THEY will be the oppressing "police state"

Historically, socialist/communism has brought oppression, complete lack of freedom and rights, and devastation, to every state

where it raised it's ugly head.

If the left weren't such hypocrites they might have gotten something right in regards to free speech. Their motto always for years was they might not agree with what you say but they will fight for your right to say it. That is not the case today with big tech companies like Google, Facebook and Youtube working overtime to suppress speech they don't like (which is usually conservative)..and where are the left civil libertarians sticking up for free speech..nowhere to be found except for a few intellectually honest ones like Alan Dershowitz...

To be fair, if someone is a libertarian than they feel those companies are free to do with their companies as they see fit. Free speech in a constitutional context just applies to government involvement. If you owned a sporting goods store and someone was in the lobby holding up pro-choice signs, I am sure you would ask them to leave.

I think there are a few true intellectually honest civil libertarians but in the age of Trump many have thrown away their principles and Alan Dershowitz has taken a lot of heat from the left for pointing it out:

Dershowitz: ACLU Doesn't Care About Civil Liberty, It's 'Agenda-Driven and Anti-Trump'
