Palin to Resign as Governor of Alaska

Unfortunate. I was hoping to see the Jindal/Palin Creationism Express roll thru in 2012. This is going to kill her on the "experience front," unless you call "speaking to kids that already hold promise rings regarding the virtues of abstinence" eperience.

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska announced Thursday that she would step down by the end of the month and not seek a second term as governor, allowing her to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2012.

Ms. Palin, who was Senator John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in last year’s election and rallied the party’s conservative base, explained her decision at a news conference at her home in Wasilla, accompanied by her husband, Todd, and other family members.

“We know we can effect positive change outside of government,” she said in making the announcement.

Ms. Palin, who was known as Sarah Barricuda when she played basketball in high school, used point guard analogy, saying she knows “exactly when to pass the ball so the team can win.”

She said that she planned to hand over the reins of the state government to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who would be sworn in at the governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 25.

There had been wide speculation that she would seek to be the Republican Party’s presidential candidate in 2012. Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, who is also considered to be a Republican candidate for president in 2012, recently announced that he would not seek re-election.

By leaving office early, Ms. Palin will be able to travel around the country more freely and not have to deal with the constraints of being a governor.

So now when cal gets behind her in 2012, I don't want to hear jack fcuking shit about "experience," since she will be out of government altogether for over three years.

Once you have experience, you don't lose it.

It's A NEW STORY, Tupa.

yawn..... Moderates will never vote for her... she is so polarizing she has virtually NO chance at beating an incumbent like Obama unless we have an catastrophic economic collapse.

She is a dumber female version of Bush Jr that has even less positive experience than he did. Unless you include loading a mountain of debt on her city and her ahem "leadership" in Alaska.

Newt cant stand her, Powell and his backers look at her with disgust and loathing becuase of her sheer stupidity.... She is a nutjob trying to Link Letterman as a pedophile... lmao.

She does have her "supporters"....... of o she is just like me.... Yea basically that is the problem you dont run for the most powerful job position in the world if you are an average/low informed "hockey" mom....

Truly... she could barely graduate with a journalism degree from substandard colleges and this is the person running for POTUS... I always thought the term "elite" was supposed to mean something positive..... At least Bush graduated from an Ivy league college with an average GPA...... good god.

I think she is tired of the limelight. Tired of the insults. Wants to protect her children. I don't like her personally, but the constant beating of her by the left wing is perplexing.

You may be right.

Either way, it is refreshing to see a person do this when they know they aren't going to be able to do a crack job.

To bad more don't do this....I think Ted Kennedy's goal is to be found dead on the Senate floor.

Best thing that happened for you, mz the pussy.

Now you have something to obcess about for the next 3+ years while the rest of us tend to our own business and families.

Not true, John. If Alo's info is correct, and she is quitting politics, it's a sad day for me. The NYT's initial report claimed she was quitting the Gov gig to focus on 2012.

I enjoyed her run. To paraphrase Ice Cube, she's the "Idiot from Wasilla you love to hate."

Her inexperience is? Or were you just taking the opportunity of this very important new story to........beat a dead horse?

Not an important story? She was the Shining Light in a World of Liberalism and Socialism. How is this not a story??

The Palin Horse is far from Dead.

Interesting as related to Sarah Palin's resignation as Governor of Alaska tonight??!!!

Make of it what you will...

"Through all the Buzz lately ,and the death of a dear family friend Farrah Fawcett.,

The only one who is not only qualified ,but is the true Leader by proxy of that election ,Is Governor Palin

She is now on what the media is saying is a secret meeting & trip; seeing the troops in Afghanistan.

2/3rds of our Military is stationed there now in a valley ,surrounded by Muslim Country's and hatred.

PM Putin canceled other engagements and flew to the town of Abiske ,on the Border of Russia and Afghanistan.

General Davd Petraeus left for Afghanistan on Monday , Radio Moscow that night said that Governor Palin was the American Government in exile ,and the only one that the PM would meet with.

With all the attention being put on N Korea firing a Nuke toward Hawaii ,the distance does not compute.

But look at the distance to Afganistan ,and the trip is over mostly Chinese airspace.

Well within strike range ,and Putin did not call Obama for this meeting ,he called Sarah Palin.

I saw Palin walking out of a meeting yesterday about this meeting ,wearing a suit and surrounded by MIBs

Guys she looked Presidential , Big time ,like a Female reflection of Reagan..

And she said that valley is a very bad place to have our military stuck in.

Letterman was said to have received a Letter telling him if he ever said anything like that again about Sarah Palin , it would cost him dearly.

Other News Agency's are receiving similar letters .

and some have a different scoop on the rumor.

Hey if it will keep you liberals from making fun of her kids, why not.

Why is it OK for the Liberals Haters to continue their attacks on the Palin family?

Mean Spirited if you ask me.

I suppose all you haters sit around and make fun of her baby to.

Ha. I googled the "article" - it comes from a site called pastebin, where anyone can anonymously post bits of code...and baseless political bullshit. Did you write this, T?

Anyway, Daniel Larison has a smart take:

Never has a major political candidate been so poorly served by her own supporters. To quote that Russian proverb again, “The yes-man is your enemy, but your friend will argue with you.” Palin was surrounded and cheered on by almost nothing but yes-men, because once anyone tried to offer any kind of criticism that person seemed to become persona non grata in her circle and in the wider conservative world pretty quickly. That is why a reasonable column offering advice and encouragement to Palin could be met by so much insane fury from so many of her supporters. It will be very difficult to explain to later generations what it was that the Palinites saw in her that made them so fervent and enthusiastic. The Palin enthusiasm of 2008 will not end up making much sense a few years from now. At least the excitement about a Jack Kemp presidential campaign after 1996 was based in a record with some accomplishments in it.

While I initially gave her some benefit of the doubt, I never pretended to be a supporter, because I could not bring myself to cheer on anyone who would work so closely with McCain, but like many on the right I found something initially very likeable about her. After the first week or so, likeability became much less important once we started finding out something about her record. What came to be so annoying about her was not so much that she performed poorly in interviews, had no policy knowledge outside of issues related to oil, and had an unremarkable record as governor (except when she was jacking up windfall profits taxes to redistribute liberate the money from oil corporations), but it was that her supporters seemed intent on never acknowledging her errors, refused to hold her accountable when she made misleading statements and began making virtues out of her weaknesses. Whether or not Palin could have become a much better candidate, there was no way that things could work out well for her or the country with supporters like this.

Leftists change the rules at their own convenience, since they have no consistence

values to base their beliefs on.

Like Obama WHINING along with the left in this country, about Gitmo. "I'll close it down" he says,

gets lots of votes...

but wait, now he's going to keep some indefinately.

Smoke and mirrors, and those who voted for Obama paid a big price to see real utopia.

All they had, was myopia.

Not good. Obama's failures and embarrassments and mistakes, have to be bad news for Palin and her family -

the left will keep trying to divert attention by making her the object of cruelty and ridicule.

While contemplating what cal's gibberish even means, please enjoy this video of Sarah Palin stepping down/using her pathetic point guard metaphor spliced with a cat playing a keyboard.

She is so fcuking stupid it actually hurts me inside.

Cal, do you own a crystal ball or are you just so used to typical liberal tactics that it appear as if you can predict the future?

The last line of your last post said how liberals will divert attention away from themselves and put it on others. mz the pussy's very next post did exactly that. Since there is no way liberalism is just so predictable and sometimes so rediculous... ... it must be that you have a crystal ball that predicts the future.

I see trends, and maybe once in a while, I discern common ulterior motives, and it all adds up.

mz the pussy even parsed out the phrase "Obama's failures and embarrassments and mistakes, have to be bad news for Palin and her family"

so he could judge that that part makes little sense... but he left out the next part:

"the left will keep trying to divert attention by making her the object of cruelty and ridicule."

It IS a rapid, learned liberal membership defense mechanism.

And probably one of Saul Alinski's teachings.

They are very, very good at it.
