I can think of one in particular that might make you seriously reconsider using this line.

Actually you make a good point because that "book" is full of wisdom.  Also that book is different than any other book.  Even so many read those words of wisdom in that book and don't put into practice what they read so it does them no good.

There is also a type of wisdom that comes from learning experience and you won't get that from reading a book. When raising my children I always wished I could impart to them some of the life lessons I learned but that is not possible, they had to learn those lessons many times for themselves. They had to experience it.

Good enough. If we go back in time far enough, you're a liberal. Congrats

So would I. But todays liberal is not your great grandfathers liberal. It was white liberals who walked arm in arm with black people in their fight for equality, not democrats.

The 1950's liberal would not advocate allowing men to use the little girls room or the killing of infants after birth.

Yes I remember all of the times on class my professors did the same. The whole class was like "Prof Sunflower, stop telling us how great socialism is. This is Heat Transfer!"

Then I went up to the board and changed the Profs "God's Dead" message to "God's NOT Dead" and the whole class cheered!

Wait

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that indoctrination is more prominent in the Liberal Arts disciplines.

But because you have not experienced it you cannot deny it doesn't happen.

I am. Or at least I was. Doesn't exactly come up at work...

But we have an actual Math major on here it sounds like. He gets more love with that

There is some truth to the old saying if you don't use it you lose it. I worked on some projects with some Japanese engineers years ago at a factory an American company had bought from  a Japanese company and their Japanese engineers stayed on for a number of months to train the new American workers. I was not an engineer just a maintenance worker and I was surprised in watching them work and using simple algebra how much of that simple algebra I had forgotten because I never had reason to use it before..

Funny story though. I did find it fun getting a Japanese to English translation dictionary and I made it a point to learn a new Japanese word or phrase a day. After a while I started getting a vocabulary down. On one occasion the Japanese engineers were giving the employees a training on running a piece of equipment and one of the American workers gave them a little bit of a hard time with some "better" ways to do some things. The Japanese engineers had a little pow wow and I heard them in japanese call the American worker an idiot. With my best japanese language I told  them "No he is not an idiot ...he is a very intelligent person". Four Japanese engineers faces turned beet red and asked me if I knew how to speak japanese? I told them no but I knew enough that they better watch what they say in front of me.
